Day 28 Of Oblivion 12/14/10

    http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

I woke up early to get back to Lucien, but did not get back to him until later in the day. When I did, however, he told me much about my new position. I was his silencer, his personal agent. I would report to him only, but not in person. I would receive my contracts through dead drops, and then go to my next dead drop.

My first dead drop was at a place called Hero Hill, which wasn’t far from where I was. I headed there and received my next contract. I was to kill a necromancer, who was attempting to turn himself into a lich. Unfortunately, his hideout was very far away from me, so I was not able to get to the cave before I became too tired to go much farther. Today was a pretty uneventful day due to traveling, and these dead drops will probably continue this trend.

Day 27 Of Oblivion 12/13/10

     http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

When I got back to the Sanctuary, and back into the embrace of my family, I received my next contract. Ocheeva had received a letter from Lucien, which was directed to me. The letter instructed me to meet him at his hideout at Fort Farragut, a short distance from Cheydinhal. I headed up there and was greeted by a dungeon full of skeletons and traps. Now, I don’t mind this type of thing, but I’m pretty sure I’ve proved myself. Enough with the traps guys! As soon as I found Lucien he congratulated me on my success in the Brotherhood and then got down to business. My next “contract” was a chilling one.

I was to “purify” the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. I had to kill everyone there. Someone had infiltrated the sanctuary and had corrupted it beyond repair. I was not a suspect because Lucien’s suspicions began before I joined, so I was to do it. I obeyed his orders, but… When I got to the Sanctuary I almost couldn’t do it. These people had protected me, brought me in when I thought I had no home. I had spent the last couple of weeks with my family and now I had to end it. I had to let go and become closer and closer to Sithis.

The first kill was hard. I killed Antoinetta, but after that I felt as though a weight had been lifted. I could kill my family just as I had just done. I did it methodically, one by one until only one remained: Telaendril. She was gone, but I was able to find a note stating that she was in Leyawiin. It was late, but I needed to get this over-with, I needed to stop this pain as quickly as I could. I went to Leyawiin and found her, skulking in the shadows. I managed to slip my knife in her neck and made my way to the inn. I would go back to Lucien tomorrow, but now was the time for mourning.

Day 26 Of Oblivion 12/12/10

    http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

Unfortunately for me, I was not able to place the finger during the day, so I instead just hung around the Imperial City. I decided to bet in the Arena instead of fighting, drank expensive wine, and just acted like a pompous-ass the whole day. As soon as night came around, however, I was able to sneak into the Offices successfully and then get out. Of course, this was quite late, so I just stayed one more night in the Imperial City. Not a very eventful day, but I have a feeling that tomorrow is going to be important…

Day 25 Of Oblivion 12/11/10

      http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/
At the crack of dawn I headed back to Cheydinhal to complete my contract. Ocheeva was well pleased and gave me my next contract. I was to kill Adamus Phillida, who is a recent retired Imperial Captain. He had a vendetta against the Brotherhood, and now that he was (somewhat) vulnerable he was to be taken out. He now resided in Leyawiin under close protection from the city guard. Luckily for me, when I got to Leyawiin he was swimming in one of the ponds in the city, without his armor. I used an arrow, the Rose of Sithis and he was an easy kill. However, my bonus was to return his finger to the Imperial Legion Offices as a sign of our power. By the time I got to the Imperial City, it was so late that I decided I would wait until tomorrow.

Day 24 Of Oblivion 12/10/10

        http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

Ocheeva gave me my next contract, and oh boy was it a good one. I was to go to Skingrad and go to a party. I would kill everyone at the party. I would receive a bonus if I was able to trick all of the guests into believing that I was not the killer. I headed to Skingrad to get my mind-games on. Now, a little bit of context for this “party” they were all going to. The 5 other guests were invited to this party with the promise of a chest full of gold. They would be locked inside the house until they could find the chest that contained the gold and the key to freedom. Well, there was no chest and I had the only key. I was giddy with excitement as I got there and the person who had filed the contract (I assume) met me and gave me the key. I went inside to do my business.

I was met by a Breton, Matilde, who told me the low-down about the other guests. A woman Dunmer, a drunkard Nord (Of course), an ex-soldier Redguard, and a rich Imperial. They all had their particular opinions on all of the other guests, but I don’t want to get too much into those right now. The Dunmer and the Imperial fancied each other, but knew not about it. So I manipulated the Dunmer and told her to meet the Imperial upstairs in the rooms. Of course, he wasn’t coming, but my arrow was. Luckily, the Redguard was already asleep in another of the rooms so I killed him quickly with my dagger. After that I shot my arrow quickly at the Dunmer and two of my targets were already dead. I headed back downstairs to find everyone concerned (Which might be an understatement). It took some patience, but I was soon able to kill Matilde, the Breton. After that, I managed to get the Imperial to kill the Nord, and I then stabbed him in the back.

High on my success, I decided I would buy some wine, chat up the locals, and just do stuff here in Skingrad.

Day 23 Of Oblivion 12/9/10

     http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

I woke up early and headed to Fort Sutch. Teinaava had told me (Feels like a looong time ago now) about a secret entrance when he was there sometime ago. I took the secret entrance into the fort as well. The secret passage was mostly flooded, but was easy enough to navigate. I soon came upon a mercenary, but was able to quickly and silently dispatch of her. After that I sneaked towards Roderick. His comatose body lay upon a bed, which looked more like an altar in reality, which was visible from nearly every point of the fort. I sneaked past two more of his guards and replaced his medicine with the poison, and got out.

I decided to head back to Cheydinhal, fighting off the urge to go back to the beautiful city of Anvil; there would be time for that later. By the time I got back, it was already very late and I went back to rest. It has been a while since I have been here, but it was good to be back in the embrace of my family.

(Sorry for the short entry. I gotta get back to Azeroth ASAP)

Day 22 Of Oblivion

  http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/

Soon after I woke up, Savlian begged me to retake the castle with him and his men, but I said no. I needed to get Martin back, so that I could finally get back to what I was supposed to be doing. I then left Kvatch and headed back to Weynon Priory. The unfathomable happened next. The same assassins who attacked the Emperor had attacked Weynon Priory. I had no choice but to help the defense. I fought through to Jauffre to the chapel and he asked me to check on the Amulet Of Kings. I found the spot where it was seemingly hidden, but it was no where to be found. I told him the dire news, but hope was not lost. We still had the sole heir to the throne, so we headed to our sanctuary: Cloud Ruler Temple.

Cloud Ruler Temple is far to the north, near Bruma, but I went there anyway. I honestly wanted nothing to do with any of this, but I still had to finish it. Cloud Ruler Temple is the headquarters for The Blades, so it would naturally be the safest place. When we got there, Martin was welcomed and I was given a place in the Blades. Naturally, I did not accept. I was devoted to Sithis, and this distraction had taken up too much of his time. I headed for Anvil immediately, and when I got there I went to the inn to recuperate and rest.

Day 21 Of Oblivion 12/7/10

I woke up in the middle of the night and was attacked by a familiar face. I almost didn't recognize him in the middle of the fight, but it was the corrupt Imperial Watchman I put in bars a while back. He had apparently been planning this for a long time, and even escaped through the same passage I took. The fact that someone could be that corrupt is astoundingly selfish.

After that I headed west toward Anvil, as I neared Kvatch the sky turned black and lava-red cracks had penetrated the blue sky. Something was very wrong. Long ago, Jaufree had told me about Martin the priest and how it was "vital to the safety of our realm". I like safety, so I decided I would look into it. There was a camp of refugees on the road leading up to the city and they told me the grim news. Oblivion Gates had opened the night before and laid siege to the city. Many people were killed and those who were alive were lucky to get away from the hordes of daedra. They told me that Savlian Matius was holding the road near the city gates, so I headed there to fix this cataclysm.

(Out of character time! See what I did there? It just so happens to be December 7th...)

When I reached the top of the hill I saw a stone portal, the hole being a fiery mess. Logic would dictate that this was the Oblivion Gate. Savlian told me that there was no hope and all of that pathetic bullshit. I told him I would fix it all, and he let me go to my death. I knew I could do it, I had to do it. The world depended on me, Mehrunes Dagon had attacked and it was up to me to stop his finish off his first foray. I entered the Portal To Oblivion...

The fire nearly blinded me. Every where I looked I saw red or charcoal; it screamed hell with a passion. Savlian had told me that he sent in some guards to attempt to shut the gate, but they hadn't returned. One of them came to me nearly instantly after I had entered. He told me how they were ambushed and I told him to guard the road. After I was rid of that goof I ventured to the Tower in the middle of this plane. It seemed to be the most logical choice of action. I fought various beasts and monsters to get there, but it was never a challenge for someone as skilled as I. The tower was even bigger on the inside; and it was a trek to reach the top. The final door between me and finishing off this abomination was locked, so I took a narrow bridge to a lesser tower in hopes of finding the key. I heard a man screaming for help as soon as I got in there, so I went to help. A Dremora spat in my face so I killed him. The prisoner told me to get the key off of his body as it would allow me to get past the door and then be able to take the Sigil Stone and close the gate. So I did just that. When I pulled the Sigil Stone from it's magical pedestal, the plane shook and I was instantly transported back to Tamriel.

Savlian congratulated me and I asked him where Martin was. He told me he was in the chapel, if he was still alive. We pushed through the gates and cleared out the courtyard and went into the chapel. Some of the guards and refugees had managed to hold the chapel and protect the civilians, one of which was Martin. I told him about The Emperor's death and how he was the last surviving heir. He was reluctant, but something compelled him to come with me back to Weynon Priory. I decided I would travel back that way tomorrow as it was a long day of fighting and I could use a good rest...

Day 20 Of Oblivion 12/6/10

http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/
(Tumblr is STILL down for me. Sorry for the inconvenience)

My next contract was to kill a warlord of a band of mercenaries. The warlord had fallen ill and was only being kept alive through his medication; Ocheeva thus suggested that I replaced his medicine with poison, but to do this I would have to sneak through his base of operations unseen. He resided in Fort Sutch, far to the west, so I made my first trip that way.

On my way through Skingrad, I remembered that I was still a member of the Thieves Guild. Huh. I thought hard about my last assignment and then through my journal. I was supposed to go to Skingrad and retrieve the Lost Histories Of Tamriel. The thief Theranis was sent, but never heard of again. To make the most out of my arrival here in Skingrad I decided I would do some work for the Thieves Guild once more. I asked a beggar if he knew anything about Theranis and the important stuff is that Theranis was last reported to be in jail. I walked to the castle and attempted to bribe the guard to let me see the prisoners. Apparently, this guard is a little-goody-two-shoes, or as I like to call them: DOUCHE BAGS. The only other way to see the prisoners was to either get a job in the castle, or sneak my way through. Sneaking in would be pretty tough, considering the door is always in plain sight of the jailer. So I asked him if there was any way to get a job in the castle and he told me to talk to Shum Gro- Yarug about it. I found him and he told me that the only job available was a Slop Drudge. I begrudgingly took the job, only to get what I needed.

When I got back to the prison, the only prisoner was a Nord, who said he would tell me everything if I promised to free him. I unlocked his door and he told me everything. He told me how "The Pale Lady" would come and take away one of the prisoners, and then return them. The third time they were taken away, they would never return. Theranis had his third time days ago. However, there was hope. Theranis' cell mate, an Argonian, had just been taken away recently and left a trail of blood in his wake. I freed the Nord prisoner and followed the breadcr- I mean blood-trail. It took me all the way through a secret passageway and then to the wine-cellar. Like any good thief, I stole all of the wine, excluding the cheap stuff. The trail had ended at a large wine cask, but I knew it hadn't ended. I searched for a lever of some sort and found it in a suspicious candle. The wine cask opened up and I followed the trail of blood once more to the Pale Lady. She didn't even speak to me, she just attacked. I wasn't sure what to do at first, as I would be breaking the rules of the Thieves Guild if I killed her. But my killer instinct kicked in and I sliced her throat swiftly.

Theranis laid dead on the floor, and the Argonian was in a cell. The Argonian just so happened to be my buddy Amusei. He told me everything once again; about how Theranis had told him about the book and it's hiding spot and then asked me once again to free him. I freed Amusei and I went to the hiding place to take the book. I finished the job, but decided to experience Skingrad for the rest of the day. The wine is excellent and my lodgings were just as good.

Day 19 Of Oblivion

http://jorbearsgamingblog.tumblr.com/
(Tubmlr seems to be down for me, so I will post this on my blog asap)

Instead of speaking to Ocheeva about my next contract, I spoke to Teinaava. He told me about the Shadowscales, Black Marsh, and the Dark Brotherhood. This discussion ultimately led to him asking me to kill a fellow Shadowscale. Shadowscales are Argonians born under the sign of the Shadow and are thus given to the Dark Brotherhood. They are in the service of the Night Mother and Sithis, as well as Black Marsh. Well, one such Shadowscale had betrayed Black Marsh and this is treason among Shadowscales. Teinaava could not kill Scar-Tail - the traitor Argonian - as Shadowscales can not kill fellow Shadowscales. Scar-Tail had fled to Cyrodiil so Teinaava wanted me to kill him. He gave me his location and I set off.

Scar-Tail was in a camp southeast of Leyawiin. I trotted on down there and as soon as I saw him, I shot. No questions from him, just justice. He had betrayed the Shadowscale organization, and thus Sithis himself. He deserved to die. And die quickly at that. After I killed him I headed back to the Sanctuary to tell Teinaava of my success. He rewarded me with some greatly-enchanted boots and I slept once more.
