As someone who didn't even like Fallout 3 that much, I'm weirdly excited.
As far as visuals? I would rather a game be honest about what it looks like than try to wow people in a trailer and then have the final product look a good deal worse. I think the game looks fine based on the little revealed so far.
I sort of feel bad for developers, because you really can't win. Make a game that looks super gorgeous in the early trailers but comes out looking more modest, people will lose their shit and call you lying downgraders. Release trailers about your game with very honest expectations for what it will look like, and people will call it ugly.
I mean, you can get away with in-game trailers if your game looks good. GTA5 looked great last generation, and the trailers looked great despite being rendered in-game. In this case, I guess I expected a little more graphical improvement over Fallout 3/Skyrim, but I guess that's not necessarily their fault with how little of a step forward the new consoles took. Maybe sticking with this engine means the game will have way less bugs and run at constant 60fps, that would be a cool surprise.
