I sent over a mailbag package to Giant Bomb West, in hopes it would arrive in time for GotY. It likely arrived in time, but that week was crazy. Dan's present inside was made special for him. I do hope he gets it at some point.
@warsloth: You, too, didn't bother to read what the translator does and didn't read any text at all, in a game largely about reading about the nature of the world?
People starting Outer Wilds for the first time, please take the time to talk to everyone and read/do everything on Timber Hearth before venturing out.
I would like to second this. The time loop does not start until you visit and leave the observatory and interact with the statue. You have unlimited time to talk to everyone and explore around the town, and take in all the information the observatory has for you.
Also, any time you are reading text, time is frozen. You can read without being rushed. It's excellent game design.
Jeff saying he didn't ever use the translator and so Outer Wilds is bullshit is just like saying Ocarina of Time is bullshit because you couldn't find the Kokiri Sword.
The guy who gives the translator tells you to go to the moon to make it work. You use your radio to find the guy on the moon, who tells you to go to the south pole of the moon to find the first rune to translate. This is the tutorial to make sure you know how to use your compass and radio scanner. If you miss that, then yes, I can't help you.
