Yeah, this year is really rough in that everyone is just saying "Yeah, but there is other stuff on the list..." and less substantive arguments being made. With the case of Abby, it almost seems like she didn't play quite as much as the rest of the crew, which is why she keeps going to bat only for Dream Daddy and Pyre.
She's acknowledged multiple times on the Beastcast that she hasn't played a lot of the games that people have been talking about...and she's had other hosts tell her that's ok. And she's been going to bat for more than the games you've mentioned.
Abby seems like a cool person, I just don't think she spends enough time playing games or reading about the industry and it's history. I know shes new to the industry but it really shows when she has to talk games with everyone else on the crew. With that said, her job seems real hard, and I sure as hell would not want to do it.
I can agree with that, but I still really like her and think she adds value. Honestly, I think it's better to have some people who haven't been in the industry as long as everyone else. It allows for some different opinions and viewpoints.
And yeah, the job overall does seem hard, especially when you're putting yourself out there knowing that you have the least experience out of everyone else in the room, and there are people on the internet ready to pounce because you don't like or haven't played the same games as them.
She's doing fine in my opinion, and in the end, this is just people talking about video games. Not everyone has to be an expert gamer to do that.
I've never really felt like Dan goes overboard with things like this. Jeff says a game is bad at least once per episode (spoken like fact, not opinion) but I can't recall the last time Dan went on about a game being bad like he did this episode.
Either way, I don't really mind when any of these guys say a game is bad, but maybe that's because I tend to do the same thing when discussing games/movies/TV with my friends. It's an opinion, even if it's not expressed that way. I mostly do it to get discussion going or just to playfully rile someone up.
