@druv: It’s not about there being worse things to worry about, but getting fatigued on a supposed issue due to years of people overreacting at every hint of it. It’s getting harder for me to take these arguments seriously because they’re constantly being thrown out over trivial perceived instances of them, rather than when it actually applies. It starts to feel like reaching just to have something to virtue-signal over, and where I once would have agreed I now involuntarily roll my eyes and groan.
I can only speak for the effect this type of oversaturation has had on me, but it’s what’s slowly pushed me away from caring about far left-leaning political stances. When the boogeyman is supposedly everywhere and in everything he stops being a scary concept or one that I take seriously.
So feel free to continue your “donations and work to reduce bad things”, whatever that means. Don’t let me stop you. I’m sure you have a nicely categorized list of why I’m part of the problem and bad person or whatever, and that’s wonderful. I don’t care anymore. I can’t stand this echo chamber of a social religion we’ve created.
I guess I’m just getting tired of all the crying wolf about racism, sexism, homophobia, cultural appropriation, etc. There are real world-affecting issues around some of these topics, but I can’t blame anyone finding it hard to take them seriously when everywhere you turn there’s someone else screaming fire when maybe there’s only embers.
Game looks like shit and the jokes were bad and tasteless. I’m not sure why it needs to be more than that. Save your outrage for the real shit.
@sweetz: It disappointed me as well. I don’t want to dismiss any possible discussion around the subject outright, but to hear them all just smile and nod as if this “well that’s problematic” mentality is just a forgone conclusion was honestly kind of sickening.
Wow, really did not expect Jeff to think that poorly of it. I suppose his silence on the Podcast should've been a tipoff. I will still most likely end up trying it out myself, but if it really is as bad as he says I'll be returning it to put toward Dark Souls 3.
What is it with EA and unnecessary forced persistent Internet? Have they not had enough backlash to get the hint? Not that this game doesn't have other problems, but this sticks out to me as such an awkward lack of self-awareness.
