STEAM May Have Hooked Me...

There is currently a store-wide sale until January 2nd(I think) and it may be what hooks me into STEAM. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I will likely be purchasing about 7 games for a total of $35...it's just too good a deal to pass up. Games I'm thinking about/already confirmed:

  • World of Goo - $15
  • Peggle Deluxe - $5
  • Audiosurf - $5
  • Multiwinia/Darwinia - $7.50
  • Half-Life: Opposing Force - $1
  • Half-Life: Blue Shift - $1
  • Reaxxion - $1

...I do own boxed copies of some of these games, but these prices are damn good!

EDIT: ...Just dove right in and purchases all the games listed above...Money well spent!

Also...fellow STEAM users...My STEAM ID = CannoliCrasher. Feel free to add away! :)

I would just like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and all that jazz. The Christmas special of Distributed Failure is now up for your listening pleasure! We talk about past memories, favorite games, and trail off-topic more than usual. It's a shorter show, but it's still a goodie. This is our present from us to you...so Merry Christmas and have a great day! I also just wanted to thank Daniel_Beck_90 and Virago for sending in their stories as well.

Jumper: Griffin's Story

...It's pretty damn awful. Here is my review that I wrote up earlier this year...

"Where do I begin? I guess I can start off by firmly saying that this is the worst X360 game I have ever played. I’ll get some quick points out of the way first. There’s not much to the audio in this game. There’s simple music, lackluster sound effects and Jamie Bell does lend his voice for the game, though he wasn’t given much to do. So what I’m basically saying is that the audio is the best part of the game. Can you see where this review is heading already? The controls are junk and camera is terrible. I will say that the only real decent part of this game is the fighting system. Each face button corresponds to a different direction, but they never really make any use of it besides the basic attacks.

So why don’t we talk about the graphics now, I mean this is the HD-era so I bet you think this game is a real looker. I’m sorry to disappoint, but it looks absolutely pathetic graphically and wouldn’t even be able to cut it on the last-gen systems. All the enemies are basically the same with either a darker skin tone or a vagina and the world is extremely bland, but that’s not the worst part. There is draw-in inside rooms and in some cases the floor doesn’t even load. There really is nothing better than beating down on some generic dude while you’re both walking on air. That last statement was sarcastic if you couldn’t tell. Besides being a graphical piece of fecal matter, there’s still more!

This game is short, really short. I don’t think I’ve played a single-player game this short since the days of the NES. I’ve heard people say 2-3 hours is what it would take to beat the game. I was able to go through it in just over an hour. That’s not acceptable; the game is shorter than the movie and makes the movie look like an Oscar winner in comparison. I’ve never seen a game so poorly put together, and above all I can’t believe that they have the balls to charge full price for it. The game isn’t worth the price of a movie ticket; it’s not even worth the $5 it cost to buy the Burger King games. The BK games look like Bioshock in comparison and that’s being kind.

Honestly, don’t buy this game…don’t rent it...don’t play it. Are you an achievement whore looking for your next fix? It’s true that you can get some very easy points and get them quick…but know this, with each achievement you unlock…you lose another piece of your soul. Trust me on that, my soul is crying his eyes out and I don’t know if he will ever be the same again. Also playing this game has helped me understand the movie. I can see why Sam Jackson wants to kill all the jumpers. If there were no jumpers then there would be no game and that’s the kind of world I would want to live in."

DF #40: Resistance 2 + SOCOM = We Suck

This week's show is our final "real" show of 2008. We discuss our love for Persona 4 once again(the game is awesome). Rob and Gus reminisce about their brief experience with Resistance 2 and how much they both suck at SOCOM: Confrontation. Much love is shown for the possible GOTY--Dash of Destruction. After all is said and done, we discuss our first "favorite" games and make fun of Rob for being the anti-PC gamer.

While there won't be a regular show on Christmas, we will have a special Xmas show from the past! If you have a great Christmas story you want to share with Distributed Failure just send an mp3 to thekush3@gmail.com and I'll be sure to add it to the show. Besides that, keeps your eyes open for a "Best of DF in 2008" special podcast around New Years!

DF #39: Persona 4 and Make Up Your Mind!

This week's show is finally here! We have a special "Hero of the Web" in David MacPhail, who rants about my little site here. We talk about Persona 4, SMT: Imagine, and continue talking about the awesomeness that is Peggle. Rob rants (with much vulgarity) about why he thinks the reviews for for Legendary are "bullshit". After all that crap, we end the show with a brief history on why we got into gaming. We really earned our explicit label once again, but what the fuck...download it and love it!

DF #38: Richard Epcar Interview!

We have a few listener questions once again and a special guest to deliver them (a gift for longtime listeners). After that we talk about what we have been playing such as: Prince of Persia, Socom: Confrontation, Ring of Red and some more Far Cry 2 impressions. We discuss some gaming news and then end the show with a special interview. We have an interview with Richard Epcar (you're probably saying, "Who?"). This fine gentleman is responsible for The Joker and Raiden in the MK vs DCU, Ansem in Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Heart RE: Chain of Memories, and Batou in the Ghost in the Shell anime (among a bunch of other crappola). Enjoy our exclusive interview and sorry for the scratchy audio (that's what she said).

DF #37: Playstation Home vs Mortal Kombat! + Vagina?

Once again we are without our second favorite Asian pooper, but still rocked a Thanksgiving show! We answer listening questions...yes, we actually had listener questions! We talk about what games we played (big surprise) including MK VS DCU, Mirrors Edge, Kingdom for Keflings, Last Remnant, and more. A little more discussion on the orgasm that is Left 4 Dead. We talk about the ridiculous events of N4G this past week and Rob googles over Tina Sanchez of 1UP. Check it out and enjoy another episode of Distributed Failure. Most importantly, we talk about a little thing called "Home".

Buy the Gold Lancer...for 99999MS Points!

Do you want the Gold Lancer for Gears of War 2? Did you not purchase the limited edition and now feel helpless? No more worries, you can now purchase the gold lancer through Microsoft's website for the low, low price of 99999MS points! That is roughly $1250...did someone say "Great Deal!" because that's what I'm seeing. Note: Sarcasm.

I am guessing that this is some kind of glitch or just a way of dealing with special limited edition DLC content that comes with a game. Either way, I find this pretty funny and would love to see someone actually pay that much for this lovely gun.

Linkage to Crazy.
