I’ve decided I really want Alpha Protocol. I also want the GameStop exclusive add-on content. I’ve already preordered the game with Amazon.com because I have a gift certificate from purchasing Red Dead Retribution and $30 off is pretty nice. Now I’m thinking of preordering the game at GameStop and just canceling my preorder after I get the code on the receipt, or maybe I’ll return my Amazon purchase to GameStop. I will beat the system.

You get the code when you actually pick up the game, so you would have to buy it. You could, however, pick up your pre-order and return the game the next day - SEALED with the receipt. This would allow you to get the code without having to spend anything extra; I would know I work at a Gamestop.

Thanks. Does this happen a lot at GameStop? I think I'll use the Super Saver Shipping on the Amazon order so it's really cheap and I'll return the Amazon copy to GameStop the day it comes in.

This is why I loathe store exclusives. Now you can't get all the awesome content. Red Dead was another game with the same problem. Do you get the extra suit? The golden guns? The beast of a horse?

With RDR all you got was the suit. You needed to buy from Amazon for the guns and Best Buy for the horse. edit- also, from what i've heard the only worthwhile one was the horse; the guns only work for the starting 2 weapons and I have always had more than enough Deadeye, and I'm using expert targeting. "
