The Chiral Artist thing threw me off too, but some e-mails you might get later explain it. But it's not an epiphany; it's like: "oh, well of course that's why".
@rustymagus: Dan pretty much said that he would try to speed through the boring stuff to get to the weird Kojima stuff in the game on the last Beastcast.
So I can imagine him playing this game on very easy (as I think a lot of people will) not because the game is difficult, but because people will find monitoring all the different systems tedious.
I think the one major game component we still haven't seen is what happens when you die; i.e. the world of the dead. But they probably want to keep that a secret until the game comes out. I imagine that's where all the particle-effect WWI tanks etc are.
This game is totallt going to turn off a lot of people. But I'd take this over anything that seemed over done. Like a Subnautica dev once said: a game needs to show its spikes. For some people to like it, others will probably dislike it.
I know modern video games don't do this anymore, but even if it meant sacrificing some of the graphical quality and/or frames, I wish this "co-op focused game" had split-screen.
