@zombievac: Oh, okay. I totally agree that the plot is pretty general! (Also, I think TPM is actually 2 hours long, but that doesn't matter). And apologies if I came off acerbic; I just feel that TPM has its merits, and enjoying it should not be seen as bad taste or an ignorance to its faults.

@zombievac: Please, enlighten me as to this mysterious 'true plot' you speak of. I'm curious to know how the course of a movie's action doesn't qualify as its narrative.

@zombievac: First, I believe you are conflating enjoyment with deep understanding. You don't have to intricately understand every element of something to enjoy it.

Second, the plot covers a lot of ground: Palpatine's steady machinations to ensure his rise to power, Qui-Gon's demise and Obi-Wan's reluctant taking up of his mantle, Anakin's discovery and his beginnings as an innocent Padawan. I can easily go on, so I'm not quite sure what it is you don't understand about the movie?

I love Dan. He may be absurd sometimes, but his earnestness never fails to put a smile on my face.

The Phantom Menace hit during the right time in my childhood, and as such it will always have a fond place in my memories. There's no denying that it's a very different movie from the original trilogy, and the complaints directed towards Jar-Jar and the midi-chlorians and the like are well earned. Still, a lot of the hatred it receives seems predicated on it not living up to the virtually impossible expectations at the time.

@d43m0n: I'd like to get around to it by the end of the week, although there's still a heap of games I haven't played that I'd want to beforehand. Still, might just put together a preliminary one anyway.

Yup, I find myself doing the exact same thing. Sometimes it's because I don't have the time or energy to sit down and play myself, while other times it's simply because hearing other people's opinions about games can be just as entertaining as playing them.

Loved it. Really takes to heart the 'brevity is the soul of wit' adage. Hilarious, in that offbeat British manner, with a fair dose of witty cuts to gaming culture. Can't wait to see what else CrowsCrowsCrows puts together.

@d43m0n: I've got to pick that up at some stage. Loved Bloodborne, but got so much on my plate right now. How much does there seem to be, do you think? In terms of new areas and such. At $20, I would hope to get a good 8-10 hours out of it, hopefully.
