Depression Quest was disturbingly accurate, especially during the bits that deal with crippling anxiety and the inability to push self-deprecating thoughts out of one's mind.
Not a game, but the Xbox 360 launched on my birthday. I had a grand ol' time waiting outside Target all night, and I scored the very last one because the guy in front of me didn't want the core system and gave me his ticket.
Strangely enough that Xbox lasted me five years before it red ringed.
It just seems to give you the ability to make your character as focused or as versatile as you want. Once you get a ton of skills, it's only natural to start figuring out which skills make you most satisfied and which ones are best for whatever situation you happen to be in.
So far for me it's eliminated a lot of the "class envy" I get when playing class-based RPGs. I can make my guy do whatever he needs to do, and it's awesome. This is the first game in the franchise I've invested a large amount of time in, so I'd also be interested to see whether or not veterans of the series are put off by the level of choice we're being given.
thanks to the bombcast, i went into the game knowing that it is what it is - a very well made, albeit standard MMO. i'm happy with that for the time being. i play these things casually, but i put enough time into them to get my money's worth at the end of the month.
