One thing that didn't seem touched on that makes this whole situation worse was the Prototype. It was essentially like Case Zero, maybe a bit less, with a built in debug editor. It was going to be the first major title for the 3DS online shop, and was going to cost around 2 dollars

Fans were already familiar that the game wasn't in the best situation, and Capcom and the developers said that sales of a demo would decide the fate of the project. Yes, that's as retarded as it sounds but we were going to bite and buy it anyway. If anything else Mega Man Legend 3 Gmod Edition would have been a consolation prize. However, Capcom delayed and canceled that one too. Canceling is one thing, putting out the task and canceling anyway was another thing, but giving a condition and not even letting people submit their efforts in the first place makes the fanbase feel betrayed. It's like saying "you must win this horserace to get the prize. Oh, we just killed your horse and the race is over now."

TL;DR Capcom held the game hostage then killed the hostage before the ransom note was sent.

You should definitely finish the first No More Heroes. In most games the final boss is the last obstacle before your reward. In this game, the final boss is the reward. It makes more sense if you're playing it.

So they're pretty much making a Highschool Of The Dead game? Shut up and take my money again, Grasshopper!

Go die in a fire capcom. No, I don't just mean that as an insult. I literally want to see the capcom execs impaled on a stake and set on fire for this.

Dudeglove took the words out of my mouth as far as the director goes. Still, with the episodic or even story arc format the series normally goes for you would think Capcom would try to milk a manga and/or anime for this. Then again the series is popular enough that it even got it's own orchestra show and cd a couple of times in japan so this isn't probably that far off.

It feels like Conspiracy Theory Week as Whiskey Media has its outage, PSN is still down with no end in sight, and ustream completely wrecks their chat client with no sign of acknowledging the feedback all starting around the same time.

You know the wii's situation is bad when the ds, a system which its successor is already out, has more games coming out in the next few months than it does.

Sega taking the project, giving it one last bit of polish (online? HD resolution? Achievement system?) to encourage people to buy it over the 'inferior' free version, and not giving the makers a dime actually seems like something that would be preferable to both parties. It wasn't like the makers were selling it in the first place.

A cease and desist on this thing way earlier in all this would have been just standard and logical, but waiting til now to pull the plug? That goes from Not Cool to What The Hell.
