@beachthunder: That's like the only really good bit of music in that game, although to fully appreciate it you need to get an XL stage so you get the solo to kick in. The rest of Rebirth's soundtrack is pretty meh.

After just an awesome soundtrack in the original, I have to wonder why Edmond changed it up so drastically.

@jdp83: I'm pretty sure it's just their name @giantbomb.com? not certain, but I remember brad saying to email brad@giantbomb at some point

99% sure that's accurate. That also seems like the only appropriate avenue to send this kind of request.

I like Patrick a lot, he's a different voice which is never a bad thing. He got me into Spelunky, so thanks for that Scoops! Dude knew how to break a story too, so that too will be missed.

It does make a little sense though, he's kinda out there in no mans land, so presumably this will allow for a new hire in the NY office (the one we've seen listed). Hopefully he joins up full-time with Max Tempkin and crew to make crazy stuff out there in that fancy office they've got going on there, he'd be a good fit with them.

Putting Brad in charge of the podcast was genius. Brad is more engaged and Jeff is way better derailing the conversation than controlling it.

The hiring of Dan Ryckert. He is the perfect choice for San Framcisco. Now it's time to get Cara Ellison over in New York.

Finally Spelunkin With Scoops. It was endlessly fun to watch, and it got me to play one of the best games ever made.

Transistor ended up really disappointing me. I loved everything about the game except for playing it. I just couldn't stand it.

I'm still struggling. Do I include Spelunky? It's probably the best game I've played, it released on PS4 this year and I got into this year. However I got into the game on the PC version, which I bought last year, and played a small amount last year. i'm conflicted. Also, a friend just got a PS4 and we spent all of yesterday playing Destiny together and it was incredible, probably my second best gaming experience of this year. So I don't know anymore!

It was way better than past years, which put it in this boring middle ground where you weren't watching an unmitigated disaster happen in front of you, but you were still wasting your time.

They definitely have something to build off of though. Why is an award show giving trophies off stage and not acknowledging the competition for many of the awards? Geoff didn't seem super well rehearsed as a host (lots of "uhhs" and the like), which was distracting. Quit calling new trailers "World Premiers". Fix those things, make it a tight two hours (I turned it off just shy of two hours when there was a comment about it being half over), and that could be a really neat show. I'm interested to see where it goes next year.

I've liked a lot of games this year, but nothing stood out as absolutely incredible, which usually there's one or two of those per year. Stick of Truth, Mordor and Wolfenstein are all good, but none of them were without glaring flaws. I didn't find any indies that I fell in love with this year either. I suspected Transistor would be a top game for me but it just didn't do anything for me, same with Banner Saga, a game that I put down after two hours from boredom.

But yeah.. AAA games were train wrecks this year.

I think I go in and out of phases where I actually care about topics in the game industry, and right now I don't really care much, so I'll watch Bombin if I catch it live, but other than that I usually skip it now a days. I liked it a lot, but it started seem like the same things were said repeatedly. I'm glad it's there as a Bombcast alternative, but the Bombcast is still by far my favorite podcast, not just on Giant Bomb.

This is an interesting year. I normally feel really strongly about a couple games but I just don't this year. There are some games I really liked though. I'm guessing Mordor and Bayonetta are the top two, Sunset Overdrive, Jazzpunk, Smash, Kart, Wolfenstein, CoD and Shovel Knight will be on the list as well. I'm less sure about South Park, Infamous, Divinity and Inquisition. I can't think of anything else that I'd expect to see there. Maybe Transistor? But there wasn't a lot of love for it, and Patrick really disliked it.

Dark Souls II, Watch Dogs and Destiny are the years most disappointing (it seems like everyone forgets that Patrick has said repeatedly that DS2 was a fine game, but not what a Dark Souls successor should be, I don't think VInny loved it all that much, Rorie was very down on it, and Brad never even finished it).

I'd like to see South Park, Mordor, and Inquisition on the list. I guess the one game I got seriously into was Spelunky, and it released this year on PS4, so maybe that counts? Or it should be the Old Game of 2014.
