I think that the first is more realistic. Imagine if the video was three hours long, you would want the NSA agent to only listen to the pertinent information, which would presumably be around the keyword you searched for.

The second point I agree with. You should be able to say that clip x joins with clip y and then see them both.

The only thing that kept me running after the C25K (couch to 5k) program was Zombies Run. There's no doubt in my mind that I would have given up without it.
