Neat, wasn't expecting a review for Ratchet and Clank. Nice review Dan! This game looks like a blast and glad to see that Insomniac did right with this reimagining.
@sweetz: Really? I rather enjoyed the first 2 games when playing them in that collection (Haven't played UYA). I guess if anything, I hated the menu layout as it has a little screen showing the game you can play and most of it is artwork from All 4 One.
To answer Dan's question about that one cutscene where Ratchet encounters the Snagglebeast, that's actually an in game cutscene. Which I think Dan being confused on whether that cutscene was in game or from the move shows how brilliant this game looks graphically.
I've always admired the Ratchet franchise and its good to see Insomniac back at it in making really fun and meaty R&C games again!
The only Star Fox games I actually played were Adventures, Assault and Command. I wanted to like Adventures and Command badly, but eventually got bored with both. I rather liked Assault's orchestrated soundtrack and the flying levels, but the on foot stuff was too easy. Kind of interesting hearing Dan's early impressions on Zero, maybe this becomes this year's Kirby and the Rainbow Curse?
Did you know that Dennis Rodman was the voice of Zack for Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball? Me neither until I found out today after watching this. Kind of wouldn't mind if they brought him back to voice Zack if this game will ever get English VO or even make it out West (which I know is unlikely).
How does this game not have Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee?
I think the same thing. And how is Hawlucha not the Luchador pokemon of choice for this game? Maybe those characters could be up for DLC? Pokken Tournament may not look as much like the Tekken-Pokemon crossover as I hoped, it still looks fun and easy to get into. I loved Pokemon back when it got started and if a game like this was on the N64, I'd eat this up as a kid.
In Pikachu Libre's defense for being included, she has a stone cold stunner, and what other Pokemon can do that? She also happens to be a character straight from the anime that made it into the playable roster.
I am super happy we have another Demo Derby! For those who might be complaining that about Jedi Starfighter getting the short end of the stick with demo discussion, they played the same exact demo of that game on the Playstation Magazine Issue 58 episode so we really weren't missing anything with that one.
I think I remember on the bombcast that the crew thought that PS1/N64 retro looking games made today wouldn't wok out as well as 8 bit or 16 retro style games mainly due to the look of those games not holding up as well. I know that Brad has also said that the PS1/N64 generation has aged the worst out of the different generations when it comes to the games' graphics and gameplay.
I don't know how the gaming public is reacting to Devil Daggers, but with Giant Bomb West loving this game that looks like a fresh PS1 title, they could be proven wrong.
Wow this game seems more like XCOM than I thought. There's even base building in FE Fates alongside the difficulty fighting and the permit-death. So Hoshido is obviously fake feudal Japan, but Nohr is a fake Holy Roman Empire?
