I'm getting a TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled vibe from how this looks graphically, but man this game looks soulless. The only good thing about this trailer is the song played at the end. Its catchy.
Maybe instead of making a sequel to Shaq Fu, they should have made a new IP using a current NBA player and incorporating a bad martial arts pun in the title. Like Stephen Curry, you get Cur-Rate! (Don't actually make this game or title a game this)
Man what a shame about this game. I dug the earlier Mario Tennis games from the N64 original to Power Tennis, but this game feels so forced and lifeless. And those portraits of characters like Waluigi, those were portraits taken from Mario Party 6, a GC game from 2004! That's how rushed this release was! They couldn't put the effort to put fresh portraits of the cast and had to rehash old art.
So Jeff can't win a Mario Party Party, but he's the happiest man at an Amiibo Festival Festival? Guess if I was Jeff, keep having these Festival streams to prevent everyone from playing any more Mario Party. Kind of hope after Nintendo releases these spinoffs, they can get back to making proper Animal Crossing.
If I didn't know who voiced Flux Wildly, I would have said Max Casella, who voiced Daxter from the Jak and Daxter series. Really sounds alike. But the real voice of Flux was Dan Castellaneta (voice of Homer Simpson). I'm also loving this feature more and more!
Hearing Jeff and Dan talk about Spacebars in the beginning reminded me of how great Spaceballs was but also how depressingly awful the Spaceballs cartoon was when it came out in 2005. Rick Moraines and Bill Pullman not included.
I loved the original Battlefront, and I liked being in the battles and getting into any vehicle without leveling up. Letting the players level up to play as iconic Star Wars characters is fine, but having to level up for vehicles to me kind of puts me off on the game. Still looks fun.
You don't have to level up for vehicles, you just pick the powerups up right off the ground at any time.

Man, Cloud being in Smash Bros is way out of left field, yet I'm totally ok with this just for how unexpected that is. Cloud would have fit in better if he was a character in Playstation All Stars mainly because while he isn't a Sony character, FF7 is deeply tied to the history of the PS1. But I think this speaks volumes that Nintendo got him playable in a mascot fighter rather than Sony. Now I await Crash Bandicoot to be playable so Nintendo can really rub it in on Sony.
Also, I just hope Mario Tennis Ultra Smash has an incredibly over the top yet amazing opening cinematic just like Power Tennis did.
EDIT: Oh and hooray for Nintendo re-releasing Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow!
