Stopped visiting GB over 2020 for a variety of reasons both site and non-site-related, after hearing the news decided to stop back by and see what it was like and just see politics in the comments. Yep, I think I'll pass.
I'm not sure Dan was trolling by sending people out of cover, it seemed like silly, but genuine mistakes to me. There is a difference between trolling and just making the wrong moves.
Damn though, that is a lot of duders lost.
Maybe they should consider taking taking a user list of names for once they run out of friends of the site, then randomly select from it the names of new soldiers. Might be fun to see random users mangled and left out of cover. Otherwise I'm surprised Dan didn't immediately name some new rookies Rick Flair, and Bret Hart.
Personally I use Beast and Breaker styles almost exclusively in my playthrough, had a lot of fun with them. So it is a little weird to see Dan tend to dismiss them. Breaker in particular makes things go so much faster in group scenarios. The focus on heat moves seems a bit much, as I think Alex said, this isn't sleeping dogs, there really isn't a bunch of environmental based ones that I am aware of.
Majima might be more interesting at this point, but Kiryu's villains are much more entertaining. I won't spoil anything but the end of this next chapter is something special.
What would it take for a multiplayer focused game to win GOTY? Like every year it's some game that lasts like 2 weeks and the game I keep playing for months gets ignored. Whether it's Overwatch, or Streetfighter 4, or Dota 2, or Hearthstone or Starcraft 2 or, or or it's always a game that is over in a few weeks and the games I play for months get passed by.
Why do you need their validation? If Overwatch is your game of the year it is your game of the year regardless of what some people you listen to on the internet say.
That said, I would say the reason multiplayer focused games tend to get passed over is the nature of their jobs and the varied tastes of the crew. They are constantly moving from title to title, and unless it hits their personal tastes or is easily turned into content they don't seem to stick with it as a group.
Not a huge fan of the name personally. Aside from that it will be interesting to see if this actually does end up as a gameboy replacement. If it does I am all for seeing nintendo focus on it and being able to see pokemon and other franchises brought to the big screen. However I have my doubts, and suspect it won't be given its size, maybe they will go more heavily into mobile instead?
This really makes me wish I still had my dreamcast and copy of shenmue. I never beat it, not sure why, but them fooling around makes me just want to playthrough it on my own and be done with it.
