@hunterob: For what it's worth, I concur with Crembaw. The first Drakengard, which is the only one I've played, is absolutely not the sort of game you want to invest a lot of time into, but its story is still absolutely fascinating to follow. A decent LP like TheDarkId's would be preferable with that in mind, unless you're adamant that watching/reading someone else play a game detracts too much from the overall experience. Drakengard's later endings are even more riveting to watch and require even more grinding and awful game design to suffer through, so either way you'll probably break eventually and head to YouTube or something.

I've yet to play Drakengard 2 or 3 however. Given 2 is usually considered worse than 1, I've been reluctant to seek it out. I'd still like to try 3 though, because that was made post-Nier and would have to have seen some gameplay improvements in that interim (or at the very least be just as wild).

I can recommend Drakengard 3, it's definitely the most memorable game I played in 2014, and probably a while to come... Gameplay is serviceable at best though, so don't expect too much (the framerate is actually worse than Nier...).

I've just recently finished Nier for the first time in anticipation of whatever it was they announced at E3 this year. I had a blast playing that too, but I have a weird thing where I love games that make me feel like shit... They're both excellent games trapped in bad games, or something? Maybe that's what makes them so good? Music in both was fantastic, so much so that I ended up with the soundtracks (mainly to soothe the PTSD the last boss in Drakengard 3 gave me).

Also looking into playing Drakengard 1 now, as screw continuity. As you mentioned, most people seem to skip Drakengard 2 as it isn't Yoko Taro enough?

I was also lucky enough to snag a copy of the Final Fantasy VII picture disc set before it vanished. I think there have been a number of Final Fantasy arrangements on vinyl, such as this one.

There was a promotional Persona 4 Arena vinyl release in the UK (not my picture).

Mardock Scramble: The First Compression - Well, that was weird. I watched this one simply because it had a character in it named Welldone the Pussyhand. From the first few minutes I was expecting it to go all Ghost in the Shell on me, but it became like a lesson in consent, trauma, and boundaries instead; followed by a courtroom drama for a brief moment and then a gunfight against a group of weirdos.

I guess I have to watch the two follow-up movies now.

Prepare for some intense gambling scenes. I'm not quite sure why, but I really enjoyed them.

You forgot to mention the most egregious issue of all...

Loading Video...

But yeah, the game play was the main reason I scraped through all of VC2. It's a shame really, as you said it does a couple of things right; scouts aren't silly overpowered and while some of the classes make others obsolete, I really appreciated having way more customization options for my squad/tank.

The main reason I bought it was to try and convince Sega to give us VC3... But with all the love VC1 is getting on Steam I'm starting to feel slightly more optimistic we might see something else soon. Or maybe I'm just delusional, as VC1 was probably my favorite game of last gen...

Still a little annoyed I can't play VC2 on the PlayStation TV too.

I found The Starship Damrey to be a short but fun experience if you're into puzzle games. Unsure how much it is on the Eshop at the moment though.

@development: Closest thing I could find on Amazon US was Sony KDL40W600B comes in a 48" version too. This review seemed to like it for gaming. Still, I'd take a look at some other stuff before deciding.

Pretty sure you can get 1 through X-2 on the Vita, having them all in one place would probably be the best way of keeping track.

I recently played through VI-X, I felt they still held up assuming you had an attachment to them to begin with. Though even that was a bit of an overdose of melodrama, I can't imagine retaining my sanity playing through all of them.

I had a crack at 1 just out of curiosity, but I don't think I could adapt to gameplay that was that antiquated, it just wasn't fun, so gave up shortly afterwards.

I'd suggest playing through your favourites again first, then trying the newer titles you've not played yet, followed by going backwards if you still have steam left. Good luck anyway!

(Failing that, just buy Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call on the 3DS and get your buzz that way).

@blacklagoon: Ah-ha, perfect! Thank you!

Guess I'll just pick up a US copy then, since I don't see NISA getting their act together anytime soon.
