As glad as I am that people are now calling alt-right extremists just plain "Nazis" instead of neo-nazis, I still think there's a difference with 1940s German Nazis that will forever make it OK to make them bad guys in a game.

On the other hand, I'm almost 100% certain that you can make a modern shooter about killing contemporary American Nazis and most people wouldn't care one bit.

I'd recommend Dragon Quest Builders (and I was never big into Minecraft). It's one of the few games I've been able to really get into this year. The World is big and there's a ton to do, but it's served out in chapters and each area opens up gradually as you progress through the plot. It's basically linear, but each chapter is hub-based and you can follow the quest structure exactly or go off script to explore and and screw around anytime you want.
