When it turns out to be a police game built on the Frostbite engine and not a police themed Battlefield game can we all agree to not be surprised?
Also, go back about a year on that VGLeaks.com website and read the fucking bullshit they report on, most of it is press releases with the word "LEAKED!!" at the front or lies like Fallout 4 will be shown at E3 2013.
Let's say you're a regular heterosexual male and your mum's name is Miranda and Miranda Kerr says she wants to date you. What the fuck are you going to say? "No, you have the same name as my mother?".
Will television make radio obsolete? Can the pizza industry survive the burger craze?! Will anybody drive cars now that helicopters exist?!! Books are dead, everyone is watching movies!! There will never be another 2D movie, long live 3D!!! Candle industry suffers massive lay-offs and the light-bulb boom continues!!!!!!
Seriously, stop and thing for one fucking second. Would you rather play Assassin's Creed IV on your iPhone or your Xbox One/PS4?
@vinny_says: we live in an interesting world, the OP has to justify before the community that a game being sold in his region that the devs are perfectly willing to take his money for operate at a comparable ability to other regions. How dare he demand a quality gameplay experience, it's his fault for living in Australia, Go Merica' ... *rolls eyes*
Yeah, I've noticed this as well.
Sympathies to Australian players looking forward to Titanfail. Aussies tend to get the real deep dickin' when it comes to this stuff.
The dickin' does run deep here sometimes. The Aussie dollar just hit a three-and-a-half year low against the US dollar so the hard fuckin' on game prices can now be justified again.
Anyway, Microsoft have promised Azure servers here in New South Wales and Victoria in 2014, which would be great if it happens. I'm buying the physical copy anyway, so if the game proves to be laggy I'll return it. One of a few reasons I don't buy digital....
You might have problems returning an online only game, a few UK stores wont accept at all now, GAME are a bit funny about anything that has "online only" on the box.
EB Games are great at taking games back. It's printed on the back of every receipt, you have seven-days. They even take back accessories and and PC games.
Uh oh, I sound like an ad. I need to balance this out... they fucked me on my PS4 preorder which is why I have an Xbox One. True story.
The 2D games are easier to make? I dunno, but look at it this way....
2007 - Super Mario Galaxy 2010 - Super Mario Galaxy 2 2011 - Super Mario 3D Land 2013 - Super Mario 3D World
I mean each of those games is a fully 3D Mario platformer and each of them has been hit critically and commercially ... I think one every few years is fine.
As for who stars in them, does it really matter that much? If Super Mario Galaxy 2 starred Princess Toadstool instead of Mario who would care? And they way it is now each character has a certain feel -- Donkey Kong games are usually harder (IMHO) and have more moving levels (mine carts, rocket barrels) plus animals to ride, Kirby is about changing your play style based on what enemies you're fighting, Mario is straight platforming with suits to mix things up, Yoshi feels more like exploring and ranged attacks...
tl;dr - If they make a new platformer starring a side character it should be a big departure from the Mario formula or it's not worth the effort and losing the built-in marketing that Mario brings

People become addicted to eating chalk. I saw a chick addicted to sleeping with her hair dryer. Why would an addiction to video games be any less real for some people? People can get addicted to ANYTHING if they're wired that way.
So the doctor told you that you have high cholesterol and gave you no advice? And you figured a video game forum was the best place to come for potentially life saving medical advice?
