Tritton Ax Pro Settings: PieGuy's advice for Games and Movies

This was originally a response to a user asking for help however I met my post limit. It could help others so I have posted this as a blog.

I got my Tritton Ax Pros a few weeks back.
This is my personal settings and the ones I find best for me however it may be different for you. At the very least this could act as a base for your own setup.

On the left is the inline controller in which to change individual speaker settings.
On the left is the inline controller in which to change individual speaker settings.
Hope it helps.

For movies I find you want to put the inline controller on the highest blue (NOT CYAN), from there:
Front = +3 (Now should be white)
Rear = +2 (Again should be white)
Center = 0 (Leave on highest blue)
Sub = Your choice, I've found that movies differ in how it handles bass so try different levels.

This will be loud so on the decoder box put the right switch right and adjust volume with + and - how you like.

As for the decoder box you will want to put time delay to zero for movies so:
Right switch to the left
Left switch to the left
Then the - button 15 times (This ensures it is 0 as max is 15)

As for games this also differs, most of the settings guide you see online are optimised to 'sound whore' on Call of Duty for instance having rear louder than front but you will find it sounds strange in most games and causes confusion. For general gaming I would go for the same as the settings I have for movies however some games (shooters in particular) you want to put the time delay to +10. This helps in working out precisely where gunfire is coming from. However games such as Fallout 3 or Oblivion it causes dialogue to echo, if you encounter games with a weird echo then reduce time delay to 0.

Also  you may want to put the center +1 in some cases as some game's dialogue seems to be tied to the center speaker.

Since burning my first Gnorc as Spyro on the original Playstation I had fallen in love with gaming, more specifically Playstation gaming. Whether it was becoming terrified of the shambling zombies in Resident Evil 3, blasting my neighbour on split-screen with Medal of Honor or laughing at how the characters spoke in Metal Gear Solid (No mouth movement just a series of hilarious twitching), these experiences wouldn’t be the same without Playstation.

With the release of the Playstation 2 I was filled with childlike excitement. I will never forget turning the console on for the first time, the gentle whooshing accompanied by little floating orbs. Graphically it was a huge step forward and with this console came more amazing games. Games such as Ratchet and Clank, a new game series by the creators Insomniac which was behind my beloved Spyro (Spyro however on the Playstation 2 is a sore spot for me as the quality dipped dramatically and it marked the end of the franchise). Hideo Kojima delivered once again with the

second instalment of Metal Gear Solid introducing the controversial Raiden (now was he a boy or a girl?) and Canis Canem Edit, known as Bully to you and me, which was a unique experience by the creators of one of the most popular franchises GTA. Missions consisted of kissing obese girls, beating up nerds and getting up to numerous other antics. Towards the end of the Playstation 2’s relatively short lifespan  it gave birth to my favourite Metal Gear Solid, Snake Eater. Its storyline wasn’t as convoluted as others and Snake was a real man suturing up wounds himself, eating animals raw, no high tech gadgets to help him and he wasn’t a clone just a superspy much like 007 which unsurprisingly is mentioned in the game. It gave real depth into the story of Metal Gear Solid. Playstation 2 for me was the Playstation’s glory days . During this time it was the birth of Playstation's main rival being Microsoft’s Xbox. Don't misinterpret this as having anything against Xbox, in fact competition is what drives the industry and makes exclusives better. I started with Playstation

Buying a Playstation 3 was automatic as I had to see the conclusion of the Metal Gear Solid saga. However at release it was extremely pricey putting off many gamers and caused me to have to wait a while before I had enough money but the buy was well worth it. Criticised by the masses for its lack of titles and extortionate price tag I remained confident and had faith that  Playstation 3 would deliver. It did help that many of my favourite series i.e.Metal Gear Solid and Ratchet and Clank  were to make an appearance and lets be honest no-one likes changing controllers. Despite a slow start for the console it has now gotten into the flow and I have no regrets about buying it. It was also my first introduction of online gaming, switching on a ranked game of Resistance Fall of Man and being greeted by a bombardment of profanities, racism and homophobic slants.  I have to admit though nowadays whilst playing games such as a Call of Duty I end up showing off a range of colourful language when my care package has been stolen by friend or foe or I have died the umpteenth time from a sniper in Bad Company 2.

I had heard of Playstation 3s were suffering from something called YLOD (Yellow Light Of Death) especially the 60 GB models, I being arrogant and not being failed by any other Playstation consoles assumed that my mammoth machine was invincible. It wasn’t. Being proved wrong I had having to say goodbye to playing Playstation 2 games in September 2009 with my 60 GB console biting the dust. An interesting experience for me as I got to crack the shiny shell of the Playstation 3 in a fruitless attempt to fix my console. With the death of my Playstation 3 I waited a very small while for the slim and was pleased with its sleeker body and sexier price tag. It sits in my room to this day happily serving my entertainment needs. I will always miss playing Playstation 2 games, despite owning a Playstation 2 it becomes too much of a hassle besides giving my sister ownership of it doesn’t help.
