Epic Fail

i spent the last 5 hours working on a video blog.  My camera outputs videos into quick time files so i need to convert them useing website.  So this was my schedule list
-write up vlog notes-15 minutes
-film and edit-45 minutes
- trying to pick right file type to convert to and had 8 corrupted files- 4 hours
So now i need to go out and buy a good video camera or web cam with a good microphone!

Gaming update

So last weekend i downloaded steam and downloaded TrackMania forever and fell in love with it.  The crazy tracks and high speed races had me going nuts, but it wasn't till last Friday that i finally bought Team Fortress 2.  I own the orange box for the xbox 360 but the PC version of tf2 has mods, bigger parties and achievments and free updates!  I've played for about 4 hours and trully enjoy it more on pc than 360,yet i feel like i shouold be playing the game witha game pad.  I play mostly as the heavy ,pyro and medic but occsaonaly i play the scout (CTF FTW!).
it costs $4,000 dollars to fire this weapon for 12 seconds
it costs $4,000 dollars to fire this weapon for 12 seconds

I also really enjoy the new maps and new game mode pay load, but i still am yearning for more maps!  I have a quest pass that exspires 10/26 so if you want it PM me.
Now on the xbox front i borrowed StarWars: The Force Unleashed and kind of regreat it.  The game play is okay but the boss fights are borring, the graphics arn't good and the game franckly dosn't do anything to sepperate it self from other action titles.
this never gets old
this never gets old

There is also a wierd graphical effect during cutscenes, some times the cut scene switches back and forth from cinamtic to in game footage and back and forth.
The story is acctualy very good and exsplains whats going on between the earlie starwar films.  I wouldn't reccomend this game to any one who isn't a die hard starwars fan.  Just a qwuick update ,ill have a review for Force unleasehd coming out early next week. -Jason

Fracture Demo impressions

Yeah, he just made a pot hole
Yeah, he just made a pot hole
The fracture Demo was released over XBL and PSN on brought to you buy Lucas Arts entertainment.  In fracture you play a solider fighting for the alliance army and receive word that a carrier ship of some kind has crash landed.  You’re goal is to get to it before the opposing forces do!

You start with a rather simple tutorial “Look left, look right, jump, good doggy”, you get the standard assault rifle and melee attack.  Yet you’re suit is equipped with possibly the coolest game gimmick of the year, a terraforming beam.  With a press of the RB button you raise the ground up to make barriers between enemy fire, to reach

Un- reachable areas and to send enemies flying in the air.  With a press of the LB button you make pot holes in the ground to get to underground areas and to make enemies fall to there death.  While I had fun messing around for the 20 odd minute demo, I doubt the game can keep these powers refreshing for a rumored 8 to 10 hour single player experience.

The controls feel solid in the sense that they didn’t bother me and responded well.  Graphically this game is good and character models (in cinematic) look crisp but not to the point of comparing it to anything like the source engine.  Now my complaints lie with the AI and the weapons.  The AI rode the short buses the whole way through the demo, in the sense that there dumb as fuck.  Enemies ran right at me and I plowed them down with the boring (except for one) weapons.  The coolest weapon in the demo was the ST4 missile launcher, it only has two shots before reloading yet when fired the missile goes into the ground (a light beam comes out of the ground showing you were it is) and you press X when you want to detonate it.

crazy scenery
crazy scenery

The brief bit of the story is that the antagonists used to work with you’re boss and now is on the lamb trying to take over the world.  Fracture is defiantly worth downloading just to play around with the physics yet I suspect relatively low scores (such as Starwars: Force unleashed, Lucas Arts recently released title.) I predict 6.9-7.5.  Fracture is coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 7.

What? A dwarf straddling a huge metal... thing!

Cool looking bosses yet they turn out to be easy to beat
Cool looking bosses yet they turn out to be easy to beat
Simply put Bionic Commando Rearmed is the best look and best sounding XBLA game and has a fantastic soundtrack, yet clunky controls and a lame top down enemy encounter mode holds this game back from being great.

Bionic Commando Rearmed is a remake of the original highly successful NES game Bionic Commando, with refined graphics, spanking new/re-mastered soundtrack and new co-op game play.  You play Nathan "Rad" Spencer who has had one of his arms replaced with a bionic arm.  Nathan uses this arm to rappel from ledges, deflect bullets and even pick up enemies and hurl them off ledges.  Your mission is to find a captured ally from the evil rival army, while the story is quite plane this wouldn’t be a true port if there was a long rambling story.

The mission select screen is broken up into enemy territories and ally basses while enemy patrols travel from each territory each time you move.  The enemy territory’s play a lot like that of the Mega Man games (another one of Capcom’s games) all the levels have a similar formula.   Run threw a horde of enemies, contact your HQ at the occasional computer monitor and fight a seriously creative boss.  While the formula is repetitive the game is still enjoyable with the introduction of new enemies, slick

environments and creative boss fights.

The sound track is one of the best parts of BC:R, it has elements that bring you back to the old days of bleeps and bloops of NES games yet has modern age twist to it.  The newest edition to BC:R thou is the local co-op and competitive multiplayer over xbox live.  Co-op is truly something every one should try; the second play is intergraded perfectly and truly gives you another reason to play through the single player.  While the co-op is great Competitive multiplayer is very frustrating and boring.  Swing around and shooting weapons works well while fighting the dumb AI yet when fighting your friends it makes hitting each other quite challenging.

Not being able to jump really makes single and multilayer frustrating
Not being able to jump really makes single and multilayer frustrating
All in all if you enjoy retro styled platformers that remind us of the good old days then you’ll fall in love with the graphics and soundtrack which make this game good.  Yet clunky controls, weak boss fights and dumb AI stop this XBLA and PSN from being great.

Street fighter Alpha 3 Max(PSP)

33 characters to pick from
33 characters to pick from
amazing amount of game modes
amazing amount of game modes

Street Fighter is one of the biggest names in the fighting games , being know  for solid controls, creative characters and crazy special moves.  But how does this legendary franchise handle the move to the PSP?  The answer is this game is a flawless port of Alpha 3 with extras ,looks great on the PSP’S wide screen And delivers fun head to head multiplayer modes.
Alpha Max has a hand full of game modes including the classic Arcade mode, Training mode , the new World Tour mode (you spend Experience points on a character and are awarded special abilities and pt. after wining each battle.), Variable battle (fight opponents using a tag team style of play) , Dramatic battle (Team up with a computer controlled character to fight simultaneously fighting a single enemy),  Reverse Dramatic battle ( fight two enemies simultaneously), the ability to play any game mode with limited lives (survival mode) ,  VS 100 kumite mode (fight through 100 opponents try to get the best win/lose record), Final battle (  fight the final boss with out fighting through arcade mode) and final Free Mode were you pick a game mode and fight any character you want and any level.  This game will be spinning in you’re PSP for weeks to come.  Graphically this game looks identical to its Arcade and PSX port, which means the slick art drawn characters and environments are back and look even better on the PSP’s wide screen.  The music and sound effects are also back with few new tracks, to get the true arcade feel headphones should be worn to get the most of the game.
The controls are actually the weakest part of Alpha Max yet don’t truly ruin the overall experience.  You move with either the arrows or the analog nub and its easier to jump with the nub yet  easier to move with the arrows making for a uneven experience.  Once you get used to the some what awkward controls you will dive right into the plethora of modes and addictive game play.  All of you’re favorite characters are back like Ken, Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li, Zangief  and 33 other characters all with there own special moves and super combos.   All in all if you own a PSP this is a must have , the insane amount of modes and characters t  hat will take you weeks to master every single combo and  special moves.

Chef Jason's in the house

So while I was writing my Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX (PSP) I decided to take a break and go out to the movies with some friends.  lo and behold they all wanted to go see Tropic Thunder ,me being the critic I am (laughs) I was very skeptical hearing that a large portion of the movie was nothing more than retard jokes and fart jokes.  Yet surprisingly for 85% I was laughing out loud and Robert Downey Jr. was hysterical.  Unfortunately Jack Black and Ben Stiller were not nearly as funny as I expected them to be.  After arriving home decided that I dint want to type so I popped in a few movies I had received from NetFix.
-Tropic Thunder
 B+   Go see this movie
- Dirty Harry
A-
-Donnie Brasco
B+
After watching all these movies I was quite famished…….that’s right it takes allot of some people.  So I decided to look in fridge and saw there was nothing but a pack of chicken.  So I spent the next 45 minutes making breaded chicken fingers.  After making the chicken I threw extra breading into the frying pan and sprinkled diced garlic n it and topped the chicken with it. Quite delish I mite say so and I washed it down with some great Irish cider I had lying around (Magners!).  Any way  expect the review in the next couple of days.

Those are bread crumbs on top lol just in case it looks kind of funny to some people

A post Nuclear Role Playing Game

During part of my vacation I stumbled upon a used dvd, video game and book store were I found some amazing deals.

My finds
My finds
-True Lies ($3)
-Alien vs Predator ($3)
- 28 weeks Later ($4)
- Johnny was ($3)
- Predator 2 ($5)
- Street fighter Alpha Max 3-psp ($5)
- Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics ($5)
- Doom Collectors Edition- ultimate doom-doom 2-final doom included ($2)

The total came to $30 dollars and I traded in old movies and computer games to get $20 dollars store credit.  With the upcoming release of Fallout 3i instantly installed fallout 1 when I got home and tell you the truth I wasn’t really feeling the turn based game play.  But after a couple of hours of play I got used to it, but not before I spent half an hour creating my character. The plot is surprisingly bland, you Vault water chip has broken and you need to find a new one.  You are then are thrown into a world full of violence ,death and betrayal.  I can wait for fallout 3’s story and truly exploring the environments in first person.  Playing the game on a laptop with no mouse dint help in the control department so until i get a mouse i cant truly enjoy the game.  I cant get fallout 2 to load properly so ill need to download some kind of patch.  I played about five minutes of fallout tactics and instantly became bored,i also don't like how you control three characters instead of one.
Playing through the original doom trilogy was a trip down memory lane for me having grown up on the game as a kid.  I really enjoy the later levels sense i've never beaten the games before.  I've also started reading alot of James Patterson's books particulary the Alex Cross series,i'v only read the first one (CROSS) but i've almost finished another one (Violets are blue)  b ut i found  6 other cross books at a yardsale for $2.  Whilst being on vacation i'v had lots of free time to go through my friends movie collection and watcha back catolague of movies i always wanted to see but never got around to it (here is that list below with a rating of A-F)
  (1941) Maultese Falcon  A-
(1951) The Day the Earth Stod Still A-
 Alein vs Preditor B-
Hancock D-
Charlie Chan A-
Gone B-
Preditor B
Total Recal C-
Spawn F-
Cherry Crush C-
Kiss or Kill B
The Thin Man B-

28 Weeks Later B-

Fargo A-
Johnny Was B-
the Devils Own A-
A certain trailer that caught my eye on TV last night was Burn After Reading and i really can not wait to go and see it.  It has a handful of great actors and actresses and the plot seems hilarious.  The night before i left for Vacation i played a couple of hours of Cod4 with Gearhead(Dan) and Brooklyngrenade(Ish) and to be honest it was the best XBL exsperiance i've ever had.  We talked and joked about games, music and everything else so i just wanted to thank you guys for a great time lol.    Thats all for now but il try to update more often-Jason

MULTIKILL!

So far I’m not really digging Unreal Tournament 3 on the Xbox 360, the frantic style of game play and huge ridiculous maps really turn me off.  I tried playing the third capture the flag mission in campaign and spent nearly hour before I said “fuck this”.  I also hate the hover board which if you get shot while on it, you go flying off and it takes a good 5 or 6 seconds to get back on it.

After I gave up on single player I jumped into the multiplayer because I mean come on who plays UT for the single player, unfortunately it takes for ever to find a match and connect and by the time you connect its over or there’s 2 kills left.  From reading my impressions you probably think I’m going to give this game a low score but im thinking about giving it a 7,because when you finally connect and find people your own skill level UT 3 is one fucking fun game.

In other news I can’t freaking wait for BCR to come to Xbox live arcade, I haven’t played the original one but this one looks incredibly fun.
