I had a look at Waypoint. Can't really get with that layout. I frequent a few other forums that use that BBSystem and they're fine. But on Waypoint it just doesn't work for me.
SL&ENT seems better.
I can totally see why existing users on those forums could get mildly disgruntled and get the feeling they're being swamped.
The revived forum though. Opencritic or this ResetEra? I wonder if there'll be a split?
What is the consensus on which forum is the new forum? In the discord I'm in they were talking about the opencritic one and I kind of assumed that was it.
It's kind of hard to keep up being so disconnected now.
I hadn't even heard of discord until yesterday. Does this mean I'm old?
It feels surreal that a forum as massive as NeoGAF could really just die like this. But without the core mod community, I’m not sure how it could be revived either. I try to keep up some small hope that EviLore will try to salvage what he can and sell it to a serious actor at a bargain price, and that they in turn can bring back the mods but yeah... feels like a longshot. And even if it happens, it won’t be the same.
Yeah, I got a notification on my phone about a big news event ongoing in my country - first thing I did (I don't know if this is a bit sick or not) is open my browser and go to GAF OT, before realising it wasn't there anymore!
I wasn't in to the community politics in that way even though I'd been there 10+ years I didn't know who the mods were and didn't really know who owned the site. But with all this happening and now knowing who the people involved are and reading about what happened with that paedo bloke a while back - I don't think it should be sold or revived, you don't want to be giving cash to the guy. It just needs to be left to die for good.
