My son is about 7 1/2 months old, so I'm going through some of the same challenges as you (though without the medical issues, obviously). Clearly, there's not as much time for games as there used to be. My wife and I both have full-time jobs, so there are some nights where we barely have the energy to eat dinner, play with the kid for a while, then slouch off to bed. On other blessed nights (when the boy actually takes a nap), I tend to let my wife have the TV while I play the Wii U. I've been playing Mario Maker since Christmas, but before I stuck to Virtual Console games -- anything that was viewable on the smaller screen.

I do have the rare day off to myself, which is when I'll indulge in longer gaming sessions such as Fallout or Alien: Isolation. Really, though, most of my gaming these days is done in bits and pieces.

Glad to hear your son is doing better! Parenthood has been a game-changer, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hey Jeff --

Don't know if you'll read this (I probably wouldn't), but I know your Dad would be proud of the man he raised, and the fact that you've made such a huge difference in the lives of countless strangers -- even if it's just laughing at jokes about Riker's beard. It's hard to think about during times like this, but you've got a lot of love coming your way, from friends, family and thousands of random Internet strangers.

Thanks for all you do, and I'm sorry for your loss.

I think it was waaaaay back in 2008. Jeff, Ryan and Brad guested on the '1Up Yours' podcast; as a result I checked out GB a few days later.

I've assumed it was rainy, with kids running about making sonic screwdriver noises.

Turned on KSP last night and realized a new update had pushed! As usual, there were quite a few bugs with the new update, but several of those had already been patched this morning. The game's engine has definitely been smoothed out a bit, and there's now a new Astronaut Office where you can further develop the crew.

With the new update, the MechJeb mod won't work properly (the actual part won't attach to your spacecraft), so until that's fixed I probably won't go much further than the Mun. Still, the new additions are nice, and with a few more bug fixes, this will shape up to be a good update.

Is anyone else playing? What are your thoughts on the upgrade?

@funkydupe: Definitely Battlestar, especially the first two seasons as you said. I also really enjoyed chunks of the fourth, including the ending. When I'm describing Battlestar to friends, I couch it as "a military drama that happens to be set in space." There are some episodes that could easily be set on an aircraft carrier without losing any of the story beats.

I have had all four removed, and I was awake for when they did it. Just had my gums numbed up real good. Honestly I didn't think the process of having them removed was that bad. It was the rest of the day that was annoying, what with having to constantly switch out gauze pads, and being unable to open my mouth to talk or eat/drink normally.

I was awake when the Army took my out for me. My entire jaw was numbed, but I definitely remember the interesting sounds my teeth made as the surgeon broke them with clamps so he could remove the pieces.

No, I did not get to take my teeth home.

Final Fantasy X. SOME people thought it was lame but I loved it.

I was gonna say Final Fantasy IX, but maybe I'm a sucker for love stories with happy endings.

@mrpilkington: Ooh, real good point. Though you'd think GameStop would have some sort of promotion where they sold Hot Pockets and "GAMR FUEL" in-store.

$280 sounds like a good price -- I bought one when they first came out; I can't remember how much I paid for the premium system. Still, that seems to be about in the ballpark. Go ahead and pay off your PS4. Or, buy 2.5 months' worth of groceries. :)
