Real talk, when "We're playing through the entire Yakuza series" is something that gets cleared at GB, I can't help but hold out for a run of this game.
@brad Hey Brad, lots of people in the comments talking about the framerate in this video, but i'm not hearing too much from you guys in the video (I have skimmed, admitting I could have missed you comment on it at some point).
Other footage of the game looks much smoother than what is on display here. Could it be on PC, or is there an issue with the video on this site?
That moment when you spent all of 2016 playing games from other years, Like Xenoblade Chronicles. Makes no sense to waste people's time with joke votes.
I'll root for the winner! That'll make me happy no matter what!
As a fan of NEARLY every Zelda game (Sorry CDI games), I think the guys did a pretty good job ranking them on the spot. I personally put Ocarina at #1 purely for how it impacted me at the time, (It really doesn't hold up quite like ALttP) but looking at the list objectively I'd say those 5 are the consistently most enjoyable zelda games. Majora's is too damn polarizing to put it on a top 5.
Finally, more articles about the actual best PS1 Final Fantasy. But really, this article is more about Gino's personal story than the merits of Final Fantasy 9.
Honestly, this game was the only FF I could stomach for longer than 40 minutes, and it's all because of the little black mage's story. And maybe also Zidane not being an edgelord.
I was ready to let sequel fatigue scare me off from this one, but Austin's fantastic review has reinvigorated my interest in this. I've played every single one of these since Demon's, I doubt i'll hold off now.
*Edit*: I hope people aren't taking Austin's personal experiences with the PC version as a direct knock against the game from a design perspective. Austin had every right to dock points for the crashes and framerate issues that were present in his game, as stability is an important thing to scale the whole experience to.
For my part, I've had an amazing track record when it comes to "technical messes" like Fallout: New Vegas, X-Com 2, The Walking Dead (Lots of people were down on that game for deleting their saves, I just got lucky...) where I never encounter the issues people were seeing. I don't really think less of a review because my experience doesn't line up with it, I just take it as an interesting new perspective. Until reading Giantbomb's X-Com 2 review, I had no idea that major technical issues were plaguing some users.
Bloodborne was my favorite first-playthrough experience with a Souls-Like game since Demon's Souls. Just different enough to give me that same sense of discovery that the first one did. Didn't really care that magic disappeared and there weren't 14 different short swords to choose from. (Let's face it, you just picked your FAVORITE short sword and never used anything else in Dark Souls). I'll agree after getting the platinum that it doesn't have the replay value that a Dark Souls does.
Dark Souls 3 seems like a big step back aesthetically, and mechanically it just seems totally stagnant. I'll reserve judgement for when I actually get my hands on it though.
