The funniest part to me is that after GBeast and West had multiple long discussions this year about nostalgia and them wanting completely new stuff vs. all the people that were too excited for stuff like a FF7 remake, that now their GOTY is a way to make and play 2d Mario levels.

Those conversations were already annoying when they happened and now they look even dumber

Wow, that's crazy. A game that two of them loved but the rest didn't seem to even play or care about at all beat a game that was on all of their personal lists. Jeff has a ridiculous amount of sway in these things. Time to listen to see how that happened.

I don't understand why they're so amazed by how easy the level building tools are in Mario Maker. Obviously the reason for that is that it's a simple 2d platformer that doesn't let you do anything crazy besides place their 50(or however many there are) objects/enemies down on the grid.

The reason LBP's level editor is more complicated and needed a bunch of tutorials is because it has a ton more options and types of things you can do besides just running and jumping. People made full on different types of games in those editors.

Obviously they like the simplicity of making the Mario levels better than those other games but to act like it was just because Nintendo designed it super well or something to make it simple compared to other games seems disingenuous, it's obviously because the game and levels are much simpler.

Someone has to explain to me where this broken Skyrim was that everyone seems to have played. I bought the game on or shortly after the date of release and have only encountered minor expected bugs. It was one of the less buggy games I played that year.

Well off the top of my head there was a bug where the game would crash at the very start when you were riding along in the wagon.

There was also a texture bug on the 360 where the higher res textures would never load in; I think this was for everyone that played on that platform.

And there were a couple really big bugs that made the whole GB staff stop playing for a couple weeks like when one of the first patches they put out broke all magic resistances in the game.

Also the ps3 release was a huge buggy mess where the whole game would hitch and stop constantly when your save file got bigger and had a ton of other problems.

Again, just ones I can remember off the top of my head.

These are just a lot less interesting now that they don't play as many games as they used to. It feels like only 1-2 of them actually finish each game and can talk about it while the rest have to just say they can't speak to it because they didn't play it.

If you remember back to previous years like for example the Mass Effect 2 vs AC: Brotherhood vs Red Dead year they all finished all of those games (except Jeff with Red Dead) and they all played most of the games on the rest of the list too. The same for the other earlier years of the site. I understand a lot of them are at different places in their lives compared to then but it still just makes it less interesting.

To me it just sounds like Jeff had a way buggier experience with Fallout 4 than most other people. The general sentiment I've seen everywhere else is that it's by far Bethesda's least buggy one of these games. I've played through it fully and am halfway through another playthrough and haven't had any major bugs.

I do agree that it still has too much jank though with stuff like my companion being halfway through a wall or having to wait a little too long for an npc to get into position and other crap like that, though none if it actually broke anything. Kinda like Vinny's thing with the npc's being there when he came out of the vault. I can't even think of which npc's that could've been. I've played that beginning part like 5 times and never had that happen.

Obviously this stuff's all subjective, especially with the kind of games they make, but I do feel like overall there's been way less outcry over bugs in this one.

Their answer about the wording of the Tomb Raider exclusivity is obviously correct that it was trying to hide that it will come to the other platforms, but I think that emailer's question was more why did they try to hide it more than every other timed exclusive.

They used the most confusing wording we've probably ever seen for a timed exclusive and had to be asked several times directly to clarify what it means before they finally revealed it was coming to other platforms. It was "coming holiday 2015 exclusive to Xbox " which can be interpreted in a few different ways, while Sony for example usually says "coming first to ps4" which is much easier to understand.

It was just super shady and it's good they were called out on it by everyone.

I'm glad they could all agree that hockey is more exciting. Every time I've tried to watch soccer all I could think is that it's basically a slower, more boring version of hockey with way less scoring chances and action.
