That Smash Direct was amazing! It was probably a better showing than anything else this year. There was so much hype and every fan of Smash I know went crazy XD

I don't think I've ever seen a show about 1 game that has been put as much time into. All the bits and stuff. Pretty much half the things they showed were things people wanted but didn't expect. Especially for tournament players they are so hyped. And the other half was confirmation of cool things. Such good vibes.

By the end of the Direct we were all exhausted from cheering. And I'm not even much of a Smash fan. The amount of work that went into this game is insane.

Prey and NMS are boring... I'll give duder that! But Madden!? The map hasn't changed in 33 games! Still green grass with white lines on it! Even Dota changes and themes their map! Give me an underwater themed Madden and we'll talk! Lol.

This DLC of Prey seems super intense though... It gets harder the longer you take to get through with the characters... and there is a big final challenge that requires you to use everything you've learned and escape with all characters for real in one run. So if you pick up and use something with one character... it won't be around for the next.

I completely agree with Jeff when it comes to ROMs and the culture around it.

Hmm I don't think I would mind if the Octopath stories never come together because too often I find myself get bored of an RPG story. The idea of 8 six hour stories sounds way more appealing to me.

If they do intertwine in a way after a long time, that could be very rewarding. But to me that's more of a bonus.

That they just accept each other and basically don't interact with each other or ask each other anything does sound a little jarring XD But I think I can get over that fairly easily now that I know that it's how it works.

That's why I'm surprised that GB, Waypoint, Polygon or any other media outlet has put zero investigation effort into this.

Hey there champ, cool comment! :) But here's my 2 cents. Sometimes people investigate things and arrive at a different conclusion from other people. This is called a "perspective". If you didn't know, the definition of perspective according to Merriam-Webster (a dictionary) is "a mental view or prospect". It's a synonym for viewpoint and everyone has one!

Anyway, glad I could inform you of this, bye!

If they investigated things they wouldn't skip over one of the most important parts: her being a sexist. She was calling him out on his gender and using that to insult him. Plus trying to make the case that she doesn't want feedback even though she publishes work related things on a publicly verified Twitter account that is made for people to offer feedback... And then saying that because she is a woman she gets too much of that already... While continuing to use a publicly verified Twitter account that everybody can post on... Now Twitter feedback is supposedly uninvited feedback because of Price? That's not how the internet works. Etc.

What these outlets are reporting makes no sense. That's why Tron's claim that they did put zero investigative effort into this is at the very least a valid concern. They did not care enough to present the truth as is. Or their 'perspective' would find some basis in the facts they present, and as a bonus they wouldn't be so easily dismissed.

We see wild accusations, prejudice and conspiracy theories and an omission of facts that do matter to the narrative they present. It's not the first time this happens with gaming media (and I cannot fault them, I don't think they've been trained to cover these types of events). And therefore I would advice any viewer or reader of gaming media to not take the gaming media's reporting on political content seriously at all. And if you have the energy, to try and correct their articles where you can with facts (especially concerning the accusations) and with a whole lot of patience.

@karrius: Where is the part that Deroir, a highly respected Youtuber who is pretty much always polite to people, is talking down to women?

If that's what he wanted to do, why did he immediately back off when she responded? How do you spin that to have it make sense?

Guild Wars 2 drama discussion from 35:00 to 53:00, if you'd like to avoid it. Nothing really new here from the Beast crew - mostly just choosing to ignore the very real possibility that the fired developer's past behavior contributed to the 'sudden' firing, in favor of the "ArenaNet is slave to evil gamers" narrative. Rest of the episode was good!

Thanks for the warning <3

Yes well. Firstly I want to make it clear that I love this community and people in general and that includes all of the people in the comment section here. And the last thing I want is to see us get too angry at each other. Because I think that, reading through these comments, all of us actually agree on the most important point: That we want the world to be fair. I think we have all spoken our mind pretty clearly and that is valuable to me. I hope to you too. And to be honest with such a controversial topic (and the impulsive nature of the internet) I would have expected much more hostility. Because you know, we are all emotion-driven beings and strong disagreements can lead to strong emotional responses.

I guess I'll carefully add that I can see the logic in the position that women are being oppressed and therefore people should have privileges when it comes to what can be said and done against men in a discriminatory fashion, to make things more fair. (I assume that is the position you take @rvancetal ?)

However I do believe quite wholeheartedly that if our goal is a more fair world in which it does not matter what gender or race you have been born as, free of discrimination, it is counterproductive in my mind for people to discriminate on one sex freely. That doesn't sound very fair to me either. It's like saying two wrongs make a right. Or that to make the world more fair it would be a good idea to try and hurt men to the point that everybody is equally miserable. In fact I would say that to stand against sexism one way but to say that it's OK to hurt people equally (or kind of like it) in the other direction sounds like something that especially people who have experienced oppression or discrimination would be very much against. You don't want to put other people through that on any level, be it systemic or individual basis.

Now I understand that something needs to be done to make the world a more fair place and that in passionately striving for such an improvement it's tempting to use anything in our power to try and push things in that direction. But yes my concern is that it is counterproductive because we are keeping these types of actions (if you don't want to call them sexist I don't know what word you prefer to use) alive and in the minds of people, and not to forget we're turning huge groups of people into our enemies by saying they can be ridiculed and harassed without repercussion. And among those people, are people who also want a world free of discrimination. I would very much prefer if we don't do any of that and move past judging people based on their gender as a whole. Wouldn't you at least agree that that would be a more preferable path?
