I hope they're great! Hard to know until some articles are out. Articles from the industry at large kinda isn't what I'm looking for from a personality-based video site, but it's not an hindrance to that content in any way either. Feel like Patrick mentioned this program aaages ago but never got it through the bureaucracy, nice to see it's done at last

I backed this. I don't mind. Or rather, it sucks, but I stopped caring about it a while ago and just want to see what the final game is like.

Not backing either the castlevania-like kickstarter or Red Ash was enough for me, when I was frustrated by the delays.

@austin_walker: Thanks for the response! I forgot your 2014 guest list, and I understand your explanation. Part of why I asked the question is that whenever they are brought up, it feels like it's always to say that they are good. But despite that, they don't get discussed very much and I never played them, so I'm unfamiliar with them and what they do to stand out. My wish for 2016 is that there are some more quick looks that cover these sort of games.

Sorry I took so long to respond myself, I wanted to sit down and play through your game and give Nested a shot first. In the end, I don't have much to say. I was more into the story of the cyberpunk corporation building than reading about the thoughts(and arm, and arm, and head etc) of animals and humans, but neither are what I'm looking for. I did bookmark Warp Door, and I'm gonna make an effort to actually play some of the games there from time to time. Hopefully I will find something I really like. At least I'll have a clearer picture of what's actually being made at that level of small independent games. And honestly, I'm most tempted to make some kind of game for a friend.

If it's an 80 hour game, I don't think it would hurt anyone to go past the tutorial.

Looks very pretty though. I don't get Brad's enthusiasm exactly, but I could see myself having a fun, relaxing time with the puzzles.

Are twine games good? Because I have yet to see one ever enter any GOTY discussion on this site ever. The impression I get whenever they're brought up is that they are an easy tool to use for self-expression, but nobody actually puts them above indie games with more going on or AAA games when push comes to shove and it's time to arbitrarily rank games at the end of the year. Not even to "give them their due" and have a conversation.

They might be as personal as That Dragon, Cancer, but they don't at all get covered by you guys.

Just playing the game is enough for me. Either once, or several times, or watching it again on the internet. In the context of this website, watching endurance runs and metal gear scanlon made me play those games on my own.

I don't consider it a way of showing my love for a game exactly, but it has been nice to play through Dark Souls and Deadly Premonition with friends( and watch the Persona 4 anime with someone too). And that would not have happened if I didn't watch videos beforehand and knew that they were worth playing.

Hotkeys for items sounds amazing. You can get your stamina and health right up if they go down, as Austin does a bunch in this episode, but pressing a button is much better than having to navigate that menu every time.

I think navigating and exploring the world is something you kinda have to do even if there is fast travel. Because you have to go to the place where you want to place a portcrystal first, and you want to place them in spots where they're relevant for quests, it's not something you can just do right away. But sometime during my second playthrough, I had placed portcrystals at all the appropriate spots and didn't have to walk very much anymore.

It's also worth noting that this game gets easier with every playthrough, not harder. There is a hard mode, but it's not a significant upgrade for the enemies compared to your own growth(The big difficulty spike is in Bitterblack Isle, the Dark Arisen content, which _does_ get much harder). There aren't actually that many quests you have to do in order to progress the game, most of it is optional. There is a speedrun mode that imports your main save into a new game and times you and you lose if you go past something like two hours. It's completely doable, and a lot of it just depends on taking necessary items and have good portcrystals available from the main game.

Man, I love this game. I'm not gonna get it on the PC because I already played a ton of it on the 360, but this is the best version by far and I recommend anyone interested to try it out. I wouldn't argue that it's better than Dark Souls or Skyrim, but it is its own unique thing. At least, I think so? I never played Monster Hunter unfortunately.

Fun fact about that Dragon Age Trespasser DLC: It's not on the old consoles! I realize this matters to pretty much only me and that one other 360 person in the Show off Your Inquisitor forum thread, but that really bummed me out. I CAN export the save to Xbox One if I buy one and then buy Inquisition again. But that's a tough sell, especially when what I want to get is a PS4 for Bloodborne.

Edit: I can't believe Austin made a reference to that old super-powered cat or dog conversation. And I don't want to believe that car playing email.

@redhotchilimist: Good example of low level thought here. "I like bad guys that are cool!" "I don't know much about about cinematic techniques."

Try and elevate your thoughts, kid. Go beyond, I liked, I didn't like, and try to arrive at a higher place of thought. Kylo Ren is very compelling, conflicted, and much more nuanced than previous villains. I love Vader and his internal conflict, and Ren is a nice progression from that.

If you want reasons, I already said I didn't like Ren because he is so pathetic, untreathening and dull to watch. Austin said he was angry like a 20-something, but I saw what looked like a thirty year old man acting like a fourteen year old boy, and that's why I got bored of him and have no interest in seeing him again in later movies. And it's not like I'm way into Vader here, being sad that this guy can't measure up. My favorite Star Wars villain is General Grievous, because he looked all weird and had four lightsabers during his two minutes of screentime in that one movie. We appreciate very different things about Hollywood family-friendly action blockbusters. I recognize that's a more Ryckert line of thought than Walker, though. Less an article and more a tweet.
