In order to get people into Monster Hunter, I don't think they need to dumb down the weapons but make some of the combos and speed quicker to get people to keep switching up the weapon depending on the monster or group. I haven't even looked at gunner weapons and I have been playing since Freedom Unite. I only use them when I need to gather or do some bug quests.

Here's hoping that the next big Monster Hunter generation has excellent weapon support and learning. It would be nice to say that you main 6 different weapons instead of 1-2.

It's sad that Generations, over time, has become such a chore and uninteresting after getting to high rank. I don't know if I am tired of the genre or if I have rung out all the enjoyment I could out of it. You would think that the online side would be a little more fruitful, but fighting online with people is frustrating 80% of the time if you can get people to hunt with.

I'll pick it up just to support Monster Hunter, I don't know if I will get in that deep. The farm, the armors, the grind, the monsters... I'm going to need something a lot more rewarding and supportive to tackle another Monster Hunter game again. They can't reel me in with G-rank even though I wish they have just waited to release Double Cross instead of Generations. In retrospect, MH4U was the pinnacle for me, what an amazing MH game.

I thought playing as a Palico was a misstep, you have to treat it as a new weapon practically. I think they should add all the races, have them control a lot like hunters and give them race buffs. Thinking about a Palico with a lance fighting alongside a shakalaka with a bow is really interesting imagery.

My game updated and it says Kingdom: Classic in Steam but when I go to the store page is says Kingdom: New Lands. Is the Classic version New Lands? I am a little confused.

The game is a lot of fun and the music is perfect.

I like how spread out the poll is. It shows that people have fun with every weapon and if you give a couple more weapons a shot, you can get a whole different gaming experience from it. Going from blademaster to gunner was a huge change which had me sink even more hours in to MH4U. Once I get everything sorted out with MHG, I hope to keep grabbing other weapons to try out the styles.

Do we want to dedicate a night that we can all get on and focus on multiplayer rooms? I can throw a thread up with certain days of the week and see which one is more popular in order to get that moving. I am not 100% focused on multiplayer, especially right now in the early game. So if I had a day that I could just keep multiplayer on and help with hunts, I would prefer it.

Unfortunately, I have small children and don't have the time to get on a Discord server and talk to everyone. But setting aside some time to play with the community would be great (hopefully they won't get too upset if I have to drop out of a hunt to help out with my family).

I would start with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. There are a lot of changes but the story mode in that game does a great job setting up for new monsters that you encounter and eases you into the MH gameplay better than MHG. I think the tutorials in MHG are alright and do a better job at explaining how to use weapons for attacks. However, watching weapon videos on YouTube (Gaijinhunter or Arekkz) are a better resource in my experience. Most of the MHG is full of nostalgic characters, locations and monsters that are from other MH games.

MH4U does a better job with handling the single player game. I would play MH4U for about 40 hours, maybe when you get up to the 6-star caravan quests, and see if you are all in. At that point, I would make the switch to MHG.

Online is huge and really helps you learn what to do for certain monsters. When I would be frightened of taking on Seregios by myself in the early game, I played a bunch of online quests with people and have an understanding for him that helped me a ton later on in the game. It also helps to see what people choose to do, Mosswine Jerky and Might Seeds are something that I had no understanding of before I stepped into the online game and watched what people do.

Before I hit the 4-star village quests, zenny was hard to come by and it felt like I was always running out. I haven't seen any "get rich quick" schemes online yet so I would assume that you will start rolling in money later on in the game. I spent a night just following the lead of someone else in the online hunter's hub which required less resources and gave me a huge boost in carved materials and zenny. I would suggest spending a night in the lower HR level and help some hunters out for some zenny?

@mrtaste: Sorry to hear that and (I guess) here's to happy hunting. I hope it wasn't because of Pokemon Go.
