Great post. I actually designed a video game based on The Epic of Gilgamesh using FF art (it's free to download at gilgameshgame.com), with the anticlimatic ending and all. Gilgamesh is my favorite story for that reason. I'm working on side quests for the game now - let me know if anyone thinks this is interesting.

The Gilgamesh scene from FFVIII is hilarious! The epic poem that Gilgamesh is from (The Epic of Gilgamesh) is actually all about disappointment and anticlimaxes. I designed a video game based on the Epic using final Fantasy IV-VI graphics and music. It's on my website, gilgameshgame.com
