@kr0gan_73: I do feel you. The problem for me might be RDR2. That game did NPC's and the world so well and realistically, that all open world games I've played since feel like nothing really. I'm sure I'll finish Cyberpunk. It's alright but nothing will top RDR2 in a while is what I feel like.
Lots of interesting discussion here. While I agree that I don't need the crew to be faking excitement over stuff that doesn't do it for them, I wish there was at least a second person who'd be there with Vinny. He isn't faking excitement but he's not making me feel bad for watching the Talk Over either. Is that too much to be asked?
Sure, scratch the negative categories but I just loved the categories GOTY used to have. Best new character, best shopkeeper, best surprise and so on. This should be positive stuff. The notion of very knowledgable people talking about some of their favorite gaming stuff of the year and picking winners was a blast.
Even though the winners didn't ever really even matter (who even remembers those shopkeepers?), the journey was something I always looked forward to. Taking something so inconsequential "seriously" was what made it for me.
