Top 10 Most Dramatic Moments in Games

While playing games, sometimes some moments or scenes would get my attention. On some way or another, because of the way they were made, from the dramatic point of view, they would touch me, emotionally. There are all kinds of those moments; some make you sad, some scare the heck out of you, and some are just sooo glorious...
So I decided to pick my top 10 favorites, and present them to you. Keep in mind, this is only my list, and it's based on how I experienced these moments. Also, of course, there will be spoilers. So here we go

List items

  • Intro movie - You're disappointed? Well, you shouldn't be. Battlefield was one of the first games I really played. But the Intro, hey... Maybe it because of the music... maybe it because of the animation... Or maybe both, but that movie is a masterpiece. It's just an amazing combination of animated WWII scenes on various places and great music to go with it. It shows battlefields, it shows what's happening on them, shows the tension, captures the feeling... Glorious. If you haven't, you should watch it. But I warn you, nothing is so amazing like the original full-screen version from the game that prepares you for battles you're about to be a part of. Anywhere, where ever you wish

  • First time in Ironforge - I don't know how they did this. World of Warcraft, it has no in-game cutscenes, no scripted sequences. I guess it's just the sheer size of it. I was playing as a Night Elf, and one day I decided to take a walk and visit that great Dwarf city in snowy mountains - Ironforge. Well, I can tell you, for a Dwarf city, it's huge. Just coming in the Great Forge just blew me off. The size, the activity, it was so glorious. I thought to myself, if this is just one city... then this world is a much bigger place than I imagined. Damn, you World of Warcraft

  • Getting out at Point du Hoc - I guess I should point out that the first time I watched this scene, I almost started to cry. It was late, dark, I was alone in my room, with headphones over my head, and been playing the game for few hours straight. I just got into it. Anyway, it's very similar to the Stalingrad, just with few better scripted sequences and better-looking graphics. Bullets flying around, your men falling down, being burned alive, screaming and panic everywhere. Then you get an explosion near you, this guy finds you lying on the floor, picks you up and drags you to safety. It's just one of the best scripted scene I ever seen in a game

  • Meeting Alma - Yes, this game had to be on my list. It's just full of dramatic (mostly just scary) moments, usually involving Alma. Well, for me, the most dramatic one is when you first meet Alma. You played it, you remember. You and her in a hallway, then slow-mo hits you, fire and explosions everywhere, and the little girl walks slowly towards you. Well, I can tell you, I spent all of my ammo there, and of course, nothing to her. She just throws me out the window. Alma, I hate you

  • The Finale - I'm talking here about the part from where you four blow up the ship to the closing credits. There's a massive battle going on around, and in all that confusion, Seven got in trouble. And you can't do nothing cause, you're on the whole other side. If only you could just do something... But your superior is ordering you to pull out. Without Seven. Of course, the whole team is now devastated, what happened with Seven?!? And then we have the appearance of Yoda, and a beautiful sight out the vessel. Ungh.... When's the sequel coming out, please?

  • Archimonde and the Tree of Life - Blizzard is famous for their beautiful animations in games. And the last one in Warcraft III: RoC is probably one of the most dramatic ones. It shows the end of the game, why you had to do what you had to do in it, what was the goal... Also, there is the contrast. We have this massive, corrupted creature Archimonde, planning to rule the world and all.... And we have the beautiful Tree of Life, with thousands of pretty wisps on it side. The results of the conflict was catastrophic, but it was necessary.

  • Lola gets sprouted - You don't see much of Lola in the game, but from those times that you can have a conversation with her, you can see that she is a nice, sweet, but naive person, who was once in love with Manny. The scene where she is lying on the Lighthouse, covered with flowers (which is a bad sign) is so well done. She and Manny have their last conversation that is so dramatic and full of emotions. It was sad that she had to go. And to be worse, that is the first (and I think the only) time where you see in person how the sprouting works. That makes this scene even more memorable

  • Ugh-Zan III - Playing as Serious Sam, you get used to big, tough enemies. And then, just in front of the Great Pyramid, Ugh-Zan II appears. This monster is 330 feet tall, has 4 arms (which equals to 4 deadly weapons), horns and big flaming balls coming out of it's mouths is probably the biggest creature you'll see in any game... ever. And so it appears, just behind me, knocking down all those giant pillars, and it starts walking (if you can call it that) towards me. Great. I guess I should run now, huh?

  • Stroggification - Okay, this scene was just frightening. Pretty much worse than almost any horror movie I watched. At almost every stop, I was like "Now my squad will jump in and kill everybody". But they didn't. And so I got stabbed, cut, ripped, my limbs were replaced, I got a large dose of some unknown liquid in me... And then they decide to pop in. Ha-ha, that Rhino Squad, always love to make an entrance...

  • Stalingrad Riverbank - This is more about the whole level, than just a moment. At the beginning, you're trapped in a boat with your comrades. Stukas are flying over you, sinking other boats, and you superiors will kill anyone if he tries to get out. Then, you're on the battlefield, without your weapon, bullets zipping over you, and you can only run around, hoping that you wont get in a way of some bullet. Definitely one of the most tense levels I ever played
