Best of 2010

Jonasusan: Best of 2010
This list feels really negative, but I'm mainly motivating why 2-10 isn't my GOTY.
And I just noticed I really want a good story in my games.
And because of Steam I have several awesome new games I need to play more of, some could be contenders.
Like Metro 2033, Just Cause 2, Amnesia, Aliens vs Predator (yes I'm serious) and more. I still haven't played enough of  Super Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Dance Central, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Enslaved, more Civ 5, Singularity, Game Dev Story, motherfucking Pac-Man, Mega Man 10 and so on and so on and so on...
And no, Black Ops, Halo: Reach, God of War 3, Bad Company 2 and some others isn't supposed to be on here.

List items

  • The end of all music games, it's pretty damn perfect. Although I'm still waiting for Bruce Springsteen.

  • Really shocked with myself that ME2 isn't in first, then I remembered my major gripes about the story. It feels like a superb expansion, a major sidequest, some random storyline before the battle against The Reapers. And Shepards death was really cheap. Awesome character-work as usual.

  • Always a big fan of the RTS-genre though I seemlingy never played it. SCII is my first real try to be good at an RTS, that's how good this is. I still feel that Blizzard can't write good stories, well, they can, they only feel like extremely old and clichéd stories.

  • A game that not only calls back to you're inner child through obvious references but the severe difficulty reminds me of a time when we actually used the Notes-section in the manuals. Awesome simple story, it doesn't try too hard.

  • It's hell of deep. Wasted a weekend on this and stopped playing it cause it's simply too good, it rapes your free time.

  • It has it's faults but Remedy sure swung for the fences. I really liked the unique style of storytelling.

  • The story is far from perfect, a fault I would blame the number of storylines you could have because of the style of game David Crane does. Heavy Rain is a really engaging game, but it has way too many threads to make a single one of them to feel perfect.

  • VIDEOARTGAMES! It's a bit too puzzly, but it has a crazy good atmosphere and the lack of story saves me from complaining on it. Jävla danskar!

  • I really love the western genre, when it is done right. But I can't play Rockstar games because of the shitty controls (the shooting mainly). The storytelling feels dated and characters that feel way too shallow. I spent a long time with RDR, but I can't say I enjoyed all of it.

  • I used to play extremely much of this series but it has dwindled the last few years. The games are still good, but it's still mostly the same, although I still feel the FIFA-series is worse in this respect.
