Ryker was the guy you had to hate when watching Star Trek TNG. Always the sleazebag trying to get under any woman's skirt. Terrible musician (yet so fond of himself), and always full of himself beyond measure. I always assumed Frakes was the same way in real life, but it seems he just played his role convincingly in TNG.

I wonder about something. At least a third of the Kickstarter money a project makes goes into fees (Kickstarter + Amazon Banking fees) and then you pay again, depending on how the bank in your home country handles Kickstarter income. So, in reality 40+% of a successful project goes back to Kickstarter and into the Bank. It's a 0-Risk win-win for them. They chew off a lot, but expect the creators of the project to pay back the fees, in case their project fails? How can they do that, when Amazon and Kickstarter + your hometown bank take half of the money away, before it even reaches the team who does the work?

I'm outraged by how Kickstarter pretends to be an alternative and community-driven thing, but at the same time the fees are so high that only a little more than half the money a project makes actually reaches the creative people behind it. The rest goes into the deep pockets of the banks and of course Kickstarter itself. I think if a project fails, the ratio of repaying followers should be 2:1, meaning Kickstarter pays more than the team that actually did some work. Otherwise it is unfair towards people who take a huge risk, trying to live their dream. If they end up deeply in depth, while Kickstarter still makes Millions that seems like exploitation to me. So who pays back, in the end?

No loot and excessive amounts of loot is a difference. I saw the youtube video of some guys who tried and failed at the raid after playing for five hours. They were trying to be organised but they were also clueless (as is everybody else at this point). It was fun watching them figure out what to do and not always knowing the best way; it's a challenging game, after all. And they did get some decent loot. Nothing crazy, but definitely not "nothing".

Perhaps if you played it a few times this will all become easier - and of course your character will be a higher level. So these raids will become easier in the future. What bugs me a bit is that there is no link to the stream that was recorded. If anyone knows where to find it, I'd appreciate the info. Gonna look for it myself now :)

Strange isn't it? You'd think having invented a game like Minecraft would seriously boast happiness and confidence, yet it feels like he's really only happy to get rid of it. I think in game development you cannot have too much idealism and get happy. It's a huge business and exploits people in every imaginable way. And the cute projects we see take incredible amounts of dedication and perseverance to get completed.

It's just a lot of stress and strain to produce an original game and in the end what do you get? A lot of complaints and 2,5 Billions. Doesn't seem so bad to me, but honestly, unimaginable amounts of money seem to be more of a letdown to an idealist than a triumph.

Crytek have brought this on themselves! I tried working with their engine, but the constant updates, proprietary formats and different version plugins that only work with certain builds of the engine, make it a hassle to get used to. A small studio cannot really use their engine without investing time into schooling its members, first. And even then, there are simpler engines to work with, such as Unreal 4 or Unity.

Cryengine has the best lighting in the industry and a great world editor. You can see they are trying to create greatness, but they forget the human element in it. Their licensing conditions weren't great and to some extend ridiculous (before the commercial 9$ /month solution, you were not allowed to use their assets or shaders in your production, and you were not allowed to make a game resembling Crysis).

To go out and blame the employees and the economy for errors in management and ludacrous expansion with no big or original titles at hand, is pure arrogance on Yerli's side. And they just don't learn, still behave like little kids that can't take responsibility. The worst thing is that they used to make great games, up to Crysis 2 and then nothing.

@metalbaofu: Thank you very much!

Hell ya, I am blind! I never noticed that there is a TINY LITTLE ALMOST INVISIBLE grey counter down there that lets me browse older posts. I know it's Easter, but I think Giantbomb's Webmaster might want to increase the contrast and size on that thing and move it up a bit!

I know there must be a way, but I have been wondering a couple of times now how to browse back a bit in the news and check what was hot last week. More specifically, I am looking for that "Devolver Digital" Podcast, but can't figure out how to browse archived news. So, I'd appreciate if someone knew what to do (we must go back in time!) or just send me the link to the Devolver interview and let me keep my ignorance.

Should have kicked him in the nuts as well. Probably just out of reach.
