@dichemstys: Thanks for the response and the sentiment.
Yes, I admit I wasn't sure I understood what her complaint was.
I realize that, like Vinny said, the game has so few characters and for a person who enjoys character creation so much, that'd be a bummer.
But, having a rational discussion with sound arguments is why I listen to these podcasts. I'm not interested in someone's mere opinions and feelings about a game if they provide no grounds to back it.
No Brad, "it's [not] insane that this game even exists". MGS4 did this 10 yrs ago with Solid Snake slowly withering and dying through the course of the game. It's not a novel idea, nor story.
I really wished Abby read a book by Simone de Beauvoir, instead of blindly reiterating the lines of today's movie critics about how a story beat maybe misogynist.
This sort of ignorant criticism by an unwillingness to elaborate leads me to believe Bertrand Russell's criticism of the modern-day feminism, because, it's simply not feminist.
How God of War can be criticized for the portrayal of women (even though it portrays only two, one of whom is dead), but, Detroit's flaws in exploring class/racial-discrimination looked over, is beyond me!
This was a game made by Santa Monica whose previous game included a QTE of Kratos engaging in intercourse with two women to gain experience orbs! The company has an extremely competent and well-deserved woman in leadership and, although the stories could still improve, they are clearly headed in the right direction.
I'm just baffled by this. But, I can see people strategically picking their battles this early. With Brad's constant criticism of the game because of fans' noise.
I realize that this is a fun list of the crew's favorites and isn't supposed to be taken seriously. But, games treat these endorsements seriously, and they help fund new projects and ventures and encourage publishers (just look at Hitman: GOTY). Some thoughtfulness and consideration would be appreciated.
