@sarcasticmudcrab: I don’t understand what you mean by “reviews as an objective product.”

Talking about technical stuff, performance etc, and to a lesser extent game mechanics and how they function and interact, rather than say art style or soundtrack.

@efesell

I want professional reviewers to give more than just their personal opinion. Maybe that's asking to much. We don't have to look any further than the Quick Look format to see it works though, and as I said there are a few good ones out there. It's just sad that the big reviews on this game were not particularly informative outside of that 30+ gamer mindset.

@sahalarious: ye the 'kids game' sucks but it's very stereotypical 7 year old dialogue with stereotypical 12 year old edgyness/UI/monster scaryness, with an all ages world to explore. And it doesnt matter to have these things and enjoy them if they are executed well, which it seems they are kind of not. But this is a discussion that is not slightly mentioned in any of the reviews I've seen, other that Worth a Buy, and thats what I'm trying to say.

To me a good review is breaking it down, talking about it, inform me of all the things. I'm far more disapointed in the reviews than i am with the game itself (which is quite disapointed).

@franzlska: heh ye thats a great point, i'm certainy not trying to say that it is a good game and that it's childish nature excuses it's flaws. The sound design seems objectively bad and the examples Skill up used in his review of the it were...shockingly bad.

I've only played a couple of hours myself and immedietly clocked it as something my daughter would enjoy more than me, and while it's fantastic that I can sit and watch a studio ghibli film with her there is the stark reality that she likes peppa pig. Sometimes I get hey duggie, and thats great. Point is the majority of reviews I've watched are only looking at it from their 30+ gamer eyes, and not even trying to see it from a younger audiences perspective, and that's a perspective that should be included in the context of a game made for kids!

@efesell: I thought that until I saw a bunch of the dialogue. It's either aimed at kids, or incredibly patronising.

I really can't see how it would be intentionally aimed at adults, for example a couple of boss names: Jumbo Puff and Wonky Mump.

Ok, so I need to forefront this by saying I am not defending the issues with this game, especially the sound design, I am not a shill for the devs, and I am not trying to say this game is worth your time if you don't already think it is.

What I would like to talk about is the sadness that I have found in watching how this game has been reviewed.

I'll start with a simple premise...when was the last time a game made for early teens was cool? I can't think of any post-fortnite game that isn't some remake for nostalgia (ctr racing etc). I'm sure there are a few but I cant think of them.

A big problem here is the advertisment of Biomutant, it did not make itself out to be a game for 10-15 year olds, and maybe it was hoping it wouldn't exclusive be so, but it kind of is, and even though there might be enjoyment to be had for an older seasoned gamer here it's at its core quite simply a game for kids. And that should be OK!

So why are the reviews bad? Well because they simply aren't acknowledging the obvious target demographic, which isn't them. Why is this sad? Well because why the fuck should 10-15 year olds not get a cool game without being told by the youtubers they watch that their game is too easy, and lacking, and not 'narratively engaging'. It just sucks, it's like saying yo swings are shit, stop enjoying swings.

There are a few reviews I've seen that understand this, Worth a Buy and ACG are both great and talk about the game as an objective product while giving their opinions in a way that makes sense if you are familiar with them, a style of review that makes GB so useful as a guide (pretty sure Biomutant is on paper a Jason game). Maybe I'm over thinking this or just want something to be better than it is, but I can't help feeling that there is this big 'its not what i want it to be' vibe happening and c'mon dudes let the kids have theirs!

Looking forward to hearing the GB talk on this which i gues is out there now, really would like Brads take I think he would be the one to put it in perspective for me.

Man... Alex, Brad and Vinny.

I cannot imagine not having these guys in my life, and I don't have to because there's an absolute shitload of content on the site I haven't watched yet. It won't feel the same and might take a while to enjoy in the same way, if that's possible, but as long as it's available I'll be watching still. Mass Effect doesn't get old yo! Maybe that's an emotional reaction but I've never stayed current before and continuing to watch random GB stuff seems a good way to go right now, I dunno. Archive that shit!

The Bombcast, while it having more playtime for me than any (?) game, has only been the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how the guys have been there for me. To the point where I could safely say that I regularly 'feel in the mood for a *add a GB member* video'. That's really weird and creepy lol. Well, you know...there's a lot to choose from.

I realised recently that the Bombcast theme tune is *probably* the song that I have listened to the most times, if you include the times I skip it. Most skipped song, by miles.

Fuck!

So either this was just fixed or I might of found a way to fix it.

On pc play any video and change the settings from HTML5 to progressive playback, then close the video, now on ps4 it should work. Not sure if that is coincidence because it is working in HTML5 mode now on ps4 but it's worth a try if it's still broken for you.

Came here to report the same thing, I signed up to premo purely to watch content on my ps4 (2nd monitor is ps4 as my old ass PC only has 1 hdmi out).

Everything else works, you can even see a faint image of the video thumbnail in the background and the curser changes when hovering over the play button so it is acknowledging the video in some way, but nothing happens when clicking it.

My work around for anyone desperate enough has been to simply download on pc, transfer to usb and watch on ps4 from the usb.

I'm currently playing Orbusvr, which for those that don't know is an (the first ever?) mmorpg in vr.

If I'm honest the game is not fantastic, kinda fun but a bit wonky to say the least and the graphics are basic, cartoony and just a bit crap. However the community in the game is possibly the best community I have ever come accross. A quote I heard sums it up well: "The people in this game are nicer than anyone I've ever met in real life"

Even the kids are cool.

I'm only early into it and not sure if I'll stick with it but so far it's been such a pleasant and relaxing experience, a great clenser from the other game I'm playing, which is Saints and Sinners.
