2013 Pile of Shame

As always, making a GOTY list confronts me with some probably-amazing games that came out this year, but which I haven't played yet. Mostly because I haven't had time to do so, partly because I'm now a lazy pig responsible adult with a full-time job, partly because I spend more time playing old games like all the Final Fantasies (which I'm tracking in another list, so check that out if you want to).

This list will include games that came out in 2013, which I wanted to play but didn't, and which would likely have made it into my top ten games of the year had I gotten around to playing them. Granted, that last requirement isn't too difficult as I just barely managed to find ten 2013 games I actually played...

List items

  • I've loved every single Assassin's Creed game so far. Yes, even the first one and Assassin's Creed III. Also, I think pirates are pretty cool.

So, had I played AC4:BF, it would've almost certainly been somewhere near the top of my GOTY 2013 list. It'd probably be between GTA5 and AC4 for my game of the year.

Having waited as long as I have already, I might as well put this game on my list of games to buy when I finally buy a PS4. That way I'll at least have something to play on it. Might be a while before I get around to doing that though...

  • I just bought this game from the PSN store during the Christmas sale. I haven't felt like playing it yet, as I played Saints Row: The Third some time earlier this year and I just played GTA 5 a bunch.

  • How about that David Cage game eh?

I honestly loved Fahrenheit (a.k.a. Indigo Prophesy), so I'm kind of excited to see how dumb Beyond: Two Souls is.

I still have Heavy Rain sitting on my 2010 Pile of Shame and I kind of want to experience David Cage's Art in chronological order. So, I guess Ellen Page will just have to <voice willem-dafoe="creepy">play with the other kids</voice> for a while longer.

  • This game looks great. I'll probably love it to bits when I finally play it. I'm kind of toying with the idea of playing a bunch of other Zelda games first though. And I probably won't start that little project until I finish my current Final Fantasy endurance walk. And that'll take a while longer. >_<

  • Confession time: I don't like BioShock. I like the idea of BioShock. I love the setting(s). But when I actually sit down and play the games, it doesn't click.

What I've seen of the setting of BioShock Infinite made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but I can't stand the thought of having to actually play the game. Might just resort to watching a play-through on YouTube.

  • A late addition, this game has intrigued me for quite a while. I plan on buying a gaming PC soonish and when I do, I'm definitely going to check this game out.
