The F40 is very well a popular "best" car in the classic gearhead scene. In some respect it is actually very fitting for a car modding game to feature that near/at the top.
While I understand where Jeff is coming from regarding featuring of the exotic cars in a game about street racing and tricking out rides, the exotics that get feature are actually some of the more modable cars in the exotic circuit. Lambos are typically very big in getting decked out in aftermarket parts and flashy paint jobs, so are Porshes with shared parts with VW. Picking the slightly lower tier McLaren instead of the top tier P1 is also fitting. Ferrari is somewhat notorious for preventing modding of their car (Deadmau5 purrari incident) them having a light present yet featuring one of their classics seems reasonable enough.

Now I kind of want to see all the instruments for the persona and all the weird unlocks. Not enough Teddie screen time this silliness is perfect for him! Is there a hidden character? There was a ? in the character viewer.
