@ChaosDent
I appreciate the time you spent to do some actual research on this.  So all I've gotten was people saying nothing's changed, and other people saying it totally has.

I haven't been part of the community for very long at all, so I don't have the history with the site that many users do, but for what it's worth I don't really care if HD opened up to free users.  I'm paying to support the GB guys, and the premium videos are the reason I was hooked.  Being able to download videos in HD is a nice perk, but I'm totally here for the videos of old games running on 800X600 monitors.  Whether or not GB offers HD videos on youtube is their own prerogative, and  all I hope for is that there is a response to this from Dave or someone else from the tech side.
Also, it was said in the comments in Dave's blog, but if you guys want to make some more money, make that link to the store a little bigger :>

Edit: Gah, spelling in the wee hours of the a.m. is tough

Haha, that's too bad that you don't like the game, at least you could have used it to take your mind off the hunger.  If it's any consolation, I am the type of person who sees something useless for 50% and buys two of them, just in case.

I don't know, The Sims Bustin' Out for Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi sounds like a pretty amazing game.

Helped out a couple times against The Two Guys.  Great successes.
Doing the catacomb thing.  I started to have traumatic flashbacks to the Painted World when I saw that huge group of skeleton wheels, but it turns out things go so much better when you are noiseless and invisible.  Two Chaos Fireballs and Pinwheel was done.  I guess it's on to the Tomb of the Giants now?
I have been trying to not play all weekend, because I have stuff I really need to do for tomorrow.  I'm failing pretty badly at that.

When was the last time you played a PS2 game, out of curiosity?

It's such a toss-up, but I'd have to say X-Men 3 narrowly beats out Spiderman 3 for me.  I don't know why more Marvel movies don't follow their lead and go the full-out comedy route.

HL2.

This is accumulated from the last two days.

When I last left off, I had hit a pretty hard wall.  I had spent hours in the Painted World getting destroyed by skeleton wheels, only to emerge to face repeat death at the hands of the knight archers.  Every time I made it, I'd either get knocked off by an arrow or shot in the back by whichever archer I wasn't trying to kill.  Finally, after many, many attempts, one of the archers fell to his death, allowing me to easily pick off the remaining one.  So from there:
-Beat Anor Londo.  First time to host a boss battle, although that was less out of the desire to take each boss on one by one, and more that I really didn't understand the multiplayer aspect until after the Iron Golem fight.
-I had already cleaned out the Asylum, but I went back to kill the Stray Demon.  Iron Flesh made that quite easy to do.
-Finally beat someone in PvP in the forest, so I have my fog ring now.  I am ten ninjas.
-Tried to help people fight Laurel and Hardy, with minimal success.  When I did it in my game, there were tons of summon signs, but I waited for what probably accumulated to hours (while listening to bombcasts) and only got summoned twice.  I wonder if it's because there are too many people trying to get summoned that I'm not being picked?  It hurts to think that people might be judging me just because I'm not wearing any pants.  Anyway, let's not talk about the two times I did manage to get summoned.
-Started the Catacombs proper.  Lit the first bonfire, did some further exploring, saved and stopped for the night.

It's not really the end of the day, as I'm still playing right now, but I'm taking a quick break:

-Got out of the painted world.  JESUS.  This is the closest I think I've come to breaking down playing this game.  Those goddamn fucking skeleton wheels constantly tore me apart, even when using stronger armor and iron flesh I still got double teamed when they started dropping out of the ceiling.  I spent at least two hours just dying over and over again.  9 Humanity lost at once.  Eventually I found the hidden entrance to get behind them.  I didn't bother trying to fight Priscilla, because I felt kind of bad for her, and plus I just wanted to desperately get out of there.  Maybe I'll go back later on.
-Back to exploring Anor Londo.  Just killed the knights and the imps(?) on the top level and then went down and lit the second bonfire, which is where I am while typing this.

Cool, thanks for the help.  The resistance aspect of it is definitely something that helps, but I guess there's no harm in saving my itemized humanity until I really need it.

Sorry in advance if these are answered elsewhere, I just have a couple basic questions:

When people say Soul Level, is that just your character level, or is there something else to it?

How valuable is it to have high humanity?  Basically, does it start to scale?  I have the Covetous Serpent Ring, which seems to boost my item discovery rate far past what would be possible to reach with just humanity alone, and whenever I gain more humanity the increase in discovery rate is extremely small (like, a handful of points).  I'm also using currently using Great Chaos Fireball, which I seem to recall doing increased damage with more humanity (but I'm at school and can't check exactly what it says right now), but I haven't done any real examination of the damage I do with and without humanity.  Is there other equipment/magic that builds with humanity?
I've currently got 11 humanity and the biggest effect seems to be my increasing nervousness.

This is a mix of yesterday and today, but I:

-Beat Sen's Fortress
-Tried out PvE for the first time with the Iron Golem.  My first attempts were really embarrassing, involving either falling off or getting knocked off, but eventually I got going on a good run and picked up about 100k in souls.  This is the most I've had yet, and it was a very exciting time.  I picked up all of Logan's spells (even though I'm quite a long way from being able to use Soul Spear), plus some other rings and some general restocking of supplies.
-Joined the Forest Hunter Covenant, and with it came my first taste of PvP.  After an hour or two of wearing the ring, I started being constantly summoned over and over, and getting wrecked each time, so eventually I took off the ring for the time being.  I haven't put any thought into PvP before this, and most of what I can do is best done at medium range.  Plus, I'm only around level 50.  Somehow managed to luck out with two wins, so that Fog Ring is almost mine!
-Started exploring Anor Londo proper.  Defeated the Gargoyle for the second time.
-Entered Painted World.  Cannot leave Painted World.  This is a little worrying.  Hope to escape with my 11 Humanity intact.
