The Genesis version couldn't be more different than the SNES version, so yes, they are two different games, not ports. BTW, the Genesis version is better
The Tanooki are a race of rather plump raccoon dog-like creatures, found primarily on Isle Delfino. Though only three are shown, it appears that Tanookis work as vendors for a living and the race itself does not appear to populate Isle Delfino in as large numbers as the other races, such as Piantas and Nokis. just look at this cute creature, it's adorable! http://www.mariowiki.com/images/4/46/Tanikoon.jpg They are going extinct IT'S A FUCKING GAME Mario drops komodo dragons in lava, & burns goombas alive with his fireflower.
