If I'd sent that book recommendation e-mail (or selected it to be read on the podcast...) I'd be pretty bummed out by Vinny's total rejection of the question. There were two possible approaches to take:
1. Recommend nothing, in which case there is a zero percent chance the question asker gets a book they like.
2. Recommend ANYTHING, in which case there is a ***NONZERO*** percent chance that the question asker gets a book they like.
Even when Abby simplified/focused it he was just like, laughing at the question.
Good episode other than that but...damn.
I just heard this part and had to check if someone else felt the same way. Being bummed out is the right description.
Nicolas Cage's performance in this is worth experiencing at least once, but having already watched this during the Year of the Cage, I don't think this is a very good movie and I don't have it in me to watch it again. While not great, I think American Psycho is a better realization of the 1980's yuppies killing people as a metaphor for how they were destroying America theme.
wow that's a great comparison I didn't even think of linking these two films.
