@curufinwe: God, right? Can't believe someone has the gall to talk about video games in a somewhat critical fashion, when we have all that discussion about pissing and shitting to do!

Anyway, talking about the video and not that dumbass comment anymore. I wouldn't go so far as to call it ugly, per se, but as you say later in the video, "cloying" is a good word for it. It's bombastic and busy and "a lot", which is just fine on the surface, but the more I look at it the more put off by it I get. There are so many instances in the footage and screenshots of dense textures layered on top of more dense textures, such as a patch of weird red wheat next to wild grass next to the tiniest bare patches of dirt or rocks. It becomes more and more tiresome to look at the longer I do it.

I love each and every personality who is or who has been a part of Giant Bomb, and each in different ways. Now that being said, a lot of people have said something to this effect already, but to whomever was responsible for this statement and the tone of it, shame on you. I don't need to say much more than that. It's fucking wack.

After the Bombcast today, I'm still here, and not without a degree of curiosity and excitement, but also a great deal of caution.

Souldiers looked pretty awesome, so I went ahead and got it myself. Thanks for showing it off @unastrike!

EDIT: After spending a few hours with it, I feel it's a lot worse to play than to watch. If you're not completely sick of the Dark Souls gameplay design mentality after Elden Ring, you'll probably really like it. Me, I've had my fill and would rather not have my Metroidvanias be filled with recovery frames on dodge and stilted movement and jumps you need to press the button for 8-12 frames in advance.

Also the first boss is awfully difficult for being encountered 2 hours in, and to compound the bad experience, loading checkpoints after you die is atrociously slow. Not a great feeling no matter how you feel about the game mechanically.

Jess, rather than wrestling, you could always just be needlessly shitty about Mr. Do! whenever Gerstmann brings it up. I'm convinced Gerstmann programmed it himself piggybacking off Dig Dug and merely convinced everyone else that it was a real thing.

This is the best episode yet. And I love that Jan misidentified the bull in SH1 as a cat, and then when is shown an actual cat on the window here, identifies it as a dog. Wolfcat forever.

If I were to guess why the save points are red squares, I would say that the devs wanted them to be something distinct that stands out in the dingy surroundings for players' benefit.
