I suspect I will rent a few games to see how it runs on my old-ass PCs, and get a sense of this technology will work, once in the hands of a more competent publisher. After all, word on the street is that the end goal is for a major publisher/developer/console maker to see this, become a believer and use it for their next console/whatever. Also curious if this is being pitched as a possible work around for piracy on a publisher level.
This is good news for those who want to get the full experience, but don't feel like giving out the 30 (or was it 40?) extra bucks for the Nav. of course, once you get the kinda gunky feel, you'll probably be inclined to get it anyway...so I suppose all sides win?
" @Deathpooky: Those trade values are legit. The thing about it is, when you trade in a 360 to Gamestop, you have to trade in at least one controller with it for us to take it. So to get 125, you'd have to trade in a 360 with one controller, and then one extra controller. "
Whoa, wait, what? I have to trade in two controllers to get these prices? *folds*
" @TheKidNixon: From what I read in our corporate e-mail, if you're not able to transfer your saves and shit via USB sticks or memory cards, you can buy a transfer kit from Gamestop when you pick it up, go home, transfer your stuff, and then bring back in your old hard drive to trade it in. As long as you have your receipt showing you bought the new Elite, you'll be able to get the higher trade in value for your hard drive at that time. "
Yeah, but can I give the transfer kit back then for a full refund? If not, that just increases the purchase price and leaves me a piece of tech I have no use for.
" How would I transfer all my saves to the new hard drive before actually selling it? That's one of the main hold ups to me selling my 360. "
Same, I don't have enough USB storage lying around to reformat to X-Box storage, so dunno what I would do with all my save data. "
Just got buy a 1 or 2 gb memorystick for $<20. Your crazy for not having *at least* one already. "
I got a few 2 gb sticks and a 4 gb, but not enough to cover the 16 gigs of memory I have on my old HDD. Plus not sure if I want to reformat those to be 360 specific.
" Tempting but no it's still $200 after the trade in. "
Keep in mind you're also going to be trading in your hard drive (seeing how the new 360 has a different form factor, you're not going to need it anymore) and if you have a wireless adapter, also trade that bad boy in, thanks to built-in WiFi.
