I just changed a server setting that may allow Nations only players to connect if they were having problems before so if you had problems please try again!

Weird, I have no idea why not. @PsEG was able to connect and I've had some random players as well.

I wonder if it is a Nations vs United thing, @Manhattan_Project and @NickL, do you both have just the free Nations?

I've created a group. If you go to your profile and under Groups click Add, the login is gbtmuf and the password is endrun.

I'm not sure exactly how we check our rankings in the group, but this is a start.

If anyone does manage to get connected, can you post in here with a confirmation so I know everything is working for you guys?

Server is up!

You can either browse to it by going to All -> USA -> California -> Giant Bomb TrackMania Server

Or if you to to All and click the magnifying glass under the server list you can type in 'giant bomb' to find it!

I may or may not be playing much this evening but server is up and we can get some races going soon!

That's fine. I think we would start with a "Nations" only server so everyone could play and if it got popular we could expand to a second server for other track styles.

Is there any interest in a Giant Bomb Trackmania server?

I'm generally just a casual player but I have run a server a little bit in the past and do have the server space and bandwidth for one if people are interested.

Also feel free to submit tracks that I should put on the server as I will just be running a bunch of my old favorites (generally full speed stuff) until people suggest others.

I'll likely get started on setting it up later but wanted to see if there was any interest first.

Server Details:

If you are a free Nations user you must follow these instructions before being able to connect to the server.

To add it to your favorites, once you log in click "Explorer" on the left side.

In explorer, if you hover your mouse at the top edge of the screen for a second a web address bar will show up.

Type tmtp://#addfavourite=thelsdj2 into that web address and the server will be added to your favorites.

To go to your favorites, click on Play Online then click on Favorites.

If the tmtp link doesn't work you may need to download and run: http://www.stabb.de/tmf/gbxtmtptools.exe There you have to put in the path to your trackmania dir which is something like:

"c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamaps\common\trackmania nations forever" and then click the "Register tmtp:// Protocol" button which should fix the tmtp link problem.

This will add the server to your favorites list which per: http://www.tm-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=27226 is the only way that free players can connect to anything but the developer run servers.

So once you have the server added to your favorites you can pick it from there in game.

For those with United (the paid version) you can just browser to the server under All -> USA -> California -> Giant Bomb TrackMania Server OR use the magnifying glass under the server browser list to search for "giant bomb" (without the quotes). Make sure after you connect you bring up the ESC menu and add to your favorites so you can find it later.
