Been playing it this week, will probably finish it tonight. It's lots of fun. Ubisoft needs to think long and hard about their release schedule for these games though. Unity was just so bad, there's no way it didn't impact this game's sales in a big way.
Really liked the first episode and haven't touched it since, until this week when I caved and caught up. Despite a lot of things going against the game (including the voice actress, the dialog, the cloying trigger warning/referral on the menu screen), it was pretty great as far as interactive fiction (with a few slight game-ish elements) goes.
Until the very final minute. What a fucking "cover all our bases" let-down. I felt like my choices ultimately meant nothing for the ten hours leading up to the Deus Ex / Mass Effect 3 finale.
Up until that point, I was thinking that anyone who made a top ten list without having played the game would be doing a disservice to the GOTY thing . . . but that very final bit just felt so mechanically unsatisfying that it really tripped off that high spot on the podium that it was about to claim.
Damn, you not only misunderstood what made Life is Strange's ending good, but also what made Mass Effect 3's so bad.
I just finished watching that cut of the story scenes on youtube... Is... is the message of this game's story that you can solve all your problems by killing people? I expect that from a lot of videogames, but not from a basketball game.
