@thesonygamer12: In Graces' case, the good combat system did not make up for the rest of the game. It's all circumstantial/opinion. And it wasn't just the story (which I didn't even mention until you brought it up), It was also the art design, the dungeon mapping and the pacing that all helped detract from the overall experience for me. So yes, in my opinion, Graces was mediocre despite a solid combat system.

what about xillia thats a great game

I really wish that was a Vita release but I can wait for the new Tales of Hearts. Maybe once Plastation On or whatevwer they are calling it happens I'll be able to stream it to my vita.

i dont know why you dont just get the ps3 version there's no point getting a ps4 yet anyway because its to damm expensive

I was wondering which console was better for rpgs in your mind the ps3 or the xbox 360 (im keeping pc out of it because its so obvious it thrashes both of them its untrue and i wanted to stick to consoles).

Id say ps3 because it has a nice balance of good western rpgs (dragon age origins for example) and some fun Jrpgs aswell (atelier totori for example) .

But that's just my opinion whats yours?.

Gameplay of enter room - shoot dark people - go to next room - shoot dark people with periodical "HAMMER X TO BRODUDE" QTEs.

Multiplayer balance of "fastest firing weapons win" so that about 5% of the available weapons are the ones you have to use or you'll need to catch enemy players unaware.

JRPGs that are the dullest of dull stale rehashed samey shit (non-Xillia 3D tales games) (buy Atelier Ayesha, Esha & Logy if you want good serious shit that puts Square to shame)

Peoples love and praise for Bioware when their last generation and on games besides ME1 were nothing but "kiss the baby" VS "murder the baby and then its parents and the galaxy they came from" with incredibly poorly written thought out romances and characters.

The fact that Alpha Protocol deserved a damn lot better during development so that people could have found out that Bioware are shit and have not a hint of RPG in their Mass/Dragon games.

The "it has experience points and levels in it so it's an RPG" dumb shit line of thought which at least gives us a good idea of who to write up for organ and plasma donation when the lizard people unveil themselves and take over.

And then the sad lonely sheep who think that everything F2P is the devil.

i own atelier ayesha and i agree its one of the better jrpgs we got for 7th gen (and the atelier ps3 games in general)

as for tales as much as i enjoy the series yeah they do get alittle copy and paste(this goes for disgaea aswell another series i love) but then again if the formula works (and for tales it really really works) why change what isnt broken

@thesonygamer12: Yes if you want to get smarmy about it. I just believe that the other elements were so dislikeable that I couldn't consider that game great, despite a good battle system.

well it could be good mediocre is abit much if you enjoyed the combat then its a good game

did you think pokemon or grandia got anywere with the story no it was the combat that people loved

@lyisa: Yeah it will eventually come down to taste, I'll give you that. And playing bad games is something that people tend to avoid, so its understandable why a lot of people haven't played some of these games.

But oh man, is Agarest hard to argue for. It has an interesting generation story concept and a serviceable battle system but is brought down by vanilla plot points and really bland dialogue. The graphics really could have been done on PS2, the pacing of how you get equipment is borked, the pacing of the story makes snail races look like F-Zero, and everything is brought down by how repetitive the game gets. I could see a person that really liked one of those games to place it in mediocre (like any bad game), but I am struggling to see how anyone can call an Agarest game a good RPG.

well thats kinda harsh

what you might thinks a bad game might be a good game for some (look at atelier rorona got mediocre reviews but has a cult status for some)

but compared to comedy toons like courage, invader zim, regular show, rockos modern life etc they do comedy so much better

And that's cool too. Some will agree with you there, some won't; Just as some will agree with you that they too don't like Phineas and Ferb, and some won't. You have your taste just as others have theirs.

well i guess phineas and ferb just isnt for me

i like cartoons that have unique visual styles (like again courage the cowardly dog) and can make jokes that adults can love just as much as kids

Atelier rorona: the games mediocre in many ways but i did have some fun with it (crafting items and gathering items was surprising addictive) but yeah compared to the underrated as hell sequel atelier totori rorona will always be nothing more than a guilty pleasure.
