Today!, it’s been one year since:

Hi everybody! (oh, yes – I’m still here)

Today I want to take you guys on a journey. A time-journey, far beyond the year 2010! – we will set our destination one year back, to the 13. August 2009 (it just hit me that it’s Friday the 13 today).

So! What happened a year ago in the game industry?

 Best picture, ever!

DooM II on it’s way to Live Arcade:

Yeah, today it’s been a year since Doom II was announced to Xbox Live, and I personally know, that it turned out pretty good.

It was said that they would make an entire new episode for Doom, and so they did (a rediculesly tough one) and that the option for 4-player splitscreen, would be available (oh, what fun we have).

 "Help me God dammit!"

Army of Two: 40th Day got a releasedate:

Today, it’s been a full year since EA decided to let us in on their plans, regarding the new Army of Two. A lot of people belived that the game would come out for the holidays, but EA told us straight, and announced the game for; January the 7 2010

Then, give us more SEGA, give us more!
Then, give us more SEGA, give us more!

SEGA will take chances on the Wii:

Sega said last year, that with MadWorld or Conduit, they would take a stand for the “adult” gamers who own a Wii (way to go!).

“What we can say, is that we still want to make games for adults on the Wii-market, because - with such an installed base of consoles consisting of 34 million in Europe and America, there are a lot of consumers. The number of Wii consoles alone, means that even though it’s a niche game, it will still sell. We can take more chances on the Wii. You will definetly see more of these games in the future.”

Oh, I will miss this grin - for sure!

GRIN was shut down:

The makers of Bionic Commando and Wanted: Weapons of Fate was forced to shut down (fuck…). They wrote a open letter on their homepage which said:

“It’s with a heavy heart, that we can inform you, that Grin is forced to shut down. This happens because a lot of publishers haven’t paid us on time, which caused a huge economic problem for us. After 12 years hard work and hundreds of talented men and women, it’s all over. It’s been one big adventure, and few has experienced what the Grin-family have.

Lionhead teases us on their webpage:

Lionhead switched their normal index page on lionhead.com to a black screen with no other than Che Guevare and two thumbs pointing up and down. The text: "At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love."

It was possible to click on both thumbs: The one pointing up would guide you to the site as a “follower” and the one pointing down, would guide you as a “subject”.

  •   ….. Yeah OK, I guess a lot happened a year ago, but I bet you guys will enlighten me in the comments if I missed anything big (…or not)

I love you guys!
Have a fantastic day, wherever you are! (insert: Grin smiley and the theme from DooM)
