I probably won't buy it day one, I'll likely still be playing Outer Worlds. But I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. Combat, as a mechanic in games, has been broken down in every possible way. Critical hits, damage per second, area effect etc. Why not make traversal and exploration the focus of the game by making the mechanics more compelling? I personally like exploration more than fighting in games generally.

I loved MGS V, but it wasn't a smooth ride to the finish. I did have to take a break from it for a while. There's definitely a risk that Death Stranding may go too far. Still, it's exciting that someone is taking chances and trying something new with a game of this scope.

Now Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime, there's a load of crap. Cynical cash-in with a dumb synth played overtop of lame bells. Frankly, that song makes me dread Christmas every year, because it means I'll have to listen to it again. The song ruins Christmas!

I agree that this is a terrible song, but it is in the "so bad it's good" category for me, along with "Do They Know it's Christmastime". The latter is actually not only a bad song, but is more than a bit offensive. Still catchy, though!

This was one of the first songs I thought of too. It has been on the top of my list for the worst Christmas songs in the past, but I think I have come around and I'm into it now.

I think @49th found it with "Temporary Secretary" by McCartney.

I'm a big Beatles and Paul fan, but a lot of those older artists lost their way in the 80s when they tried to keep up with the times. I like all the goofy songs he wrote with The Beatles that everyone seems to hate too. Opinions on "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Obladi Oblada"?

@kraznor: I still argue that Val Kilmer was one of the best Bruce Waynes.

Horrible Batman, but good Bruce

He's far from my number one, but I'm also disappointed he wasn't included in this multiple choice poll. I hate how people lump "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin" together, they are remembered as one movie. There's a huge gap in quality and intention.

@aviont:

More people need to see Brave and The Bold! Proof that silver age wackiness can work for Batman today.

I didn't use a case for years, I thought they were tacky and bulky. I've had the minimal case that came with my Note 5 for a few years now. It may have cost a few extra dollars, but I was convinced by the extra functionality of a windowed lock screen when the front flap was closed. I appreciate the grip, and it's not too bulky. Sometimes I take it out to appreciate the sleek design of the naked phone, but it feels as slippery as a bar of soap. I'm not sure if I would trust myself with a caseless phone again. I've dropped phones before, but never did any serious damage to them.

I hear there are custom grips you an apply to the back of your phone without adding bulk.

@pooch516: Yeah, I've always liked Link's Awakening more than A Link to the Past. I've 100%'ed the Game Boy Colour version multiple times. Granted, a huge part of that is because I played LA first. But they definitely learned some lessons from the Super Nintendo game. Enemies are super aggressive and some things are pretty obtuse. I would never have known I needed to use the Ether medallion to uncover hidden paths without looking it up. ALttP also has some BS minigames, like a digging game where you have to repeatedly play until you just randomly find the heart piece. Or a difficult shooting gallery that has no reward.

Legend of Zelda- Have played/beat all of them (and always max out hearts if not every other collectible ((not Korok Seeds because fuck that)))

Zelda is my favorite franchise in games, but I haven't even gotten 100% in every one. To me, getting all the Koroks was a more approachable goal than attempting to fight the final boss of Skyward Sword again. I lost motivation with the last bosses of Spirit Tracks and LttP too. Although I'm currently replaying the SNES game, so that may change soon. I haven't reached the end of either Oracle game yet.

Mass Effect, Fable, Uncharted, Rogue Squadron and Batman: Arkham are the only ones I can think of that I've beaten every entry for. I'm close with Mario, but I never completed the Galaxy games.

Drawing parallels between today and the civil rights of the 60s is a cool idea that echos in today's environment. Xavier and Magneto could echo philosophies of MLK jr. and Malcom X. Love and Hate.

I'm in a very similar situation. It varies between games. Some games hook me and I'm into them for a while, other times I find I need to force myself to play a game or even to turn on my console. Lately I'm just wallowing in the indecision of what I should play next. I often end up getting distracted by social media or lying around and doing nothing at all. Games are a good escape that provide goals that are rewarding and can improve my mood. It's okay to vary things up too. I've been enjoying the fun, breezy Ash vs. The Evil Dead on Netflix or getting out for walks and reading too.

They'll die a lot more once they find the minigames. I was finding banana's left and right when I replayed DK64 after this feature started. Maybe once they get used to the controls and find all the characters they'll get into a groove. I agree, it's rough going right now.

Part of the problem is that it's bogged down by the meta game. I'd rather them cut half the items, and ditch spins for coins. I can't keep track of what's going on as it is. Maybe a Banana Jar cam would help, but that's even more clutter.

There needs to be more Nintendo playing, and less game show. The presentation is fun, but I don't care about the betting. For the record, I think the game is more dated then clunky, I loved it in its day. Although, the minigames are awful and always have been.

For all the people complaining about the N64 controller, it standardized thumb sticks and triggers. So.... every controller that came after is basically a child of the SNES and N64.

Sure, it's a little goofy, but that makes it more lovable to me.
