I tend to pre-order when it's a developer with a proven track record (Arkane for instance) or if its a sequel to a game I enjoyed (Evil Within 2). The game that got me to stop pre-ordering everything that caught my interest was Two Worlds. Terrible game, with some admittedly great ideas, and it would probably would have been tolerable to me if it didn't crash so much.

If IO has the license and its not totally afraid to do so I'd like another Freedom Fighters. I know that the bad press Homefront got and similar themes found in the upcoming Farcry 5 make it a dark horse, but I really loved their approach to a squad based 3rd person action game. I enjoyed what it did and there aren't really a lot of games I can think of that are like it. Like a lot of other people I'd like another Dragons Dogma and another Zone of Enders.

Valley which just came out and is a fucking blast to run and jump in. A Story About My Uncle for similar reason. Jumping high and moving fast is fun wish more games did this kind of stuff.

I don't see Inside as an option and everyone in the office has had a lot of praise for it. It'll probably leave the discussion around the same time as Witness as puzzle games like it and witness are rarely if ever GOTY, but it will be in the conversation. I know Brad will bring it up and probably Dan. One of those is probably in a "The Fall" type position to win Best Story.

I'll second dual monitors as being a godsend for this exact reason. As a suggestion once you get a second monitor I highly reccomend Rebel Galaxy. Nothing like space trucking to Unprofessional Fridays. I turn most of the audio all of the way down except for sound effects which I mix a little lower around 30%. In the meantime I highly suggest the underrated Crashlands. It'll play well at a lowered window resolution and it's got a lot of the same conceptsas Rimworld, but just a little easier and a lot less micro managing.
