Giantbomb Awards I - 2010's GOTY, Best New Character, Best Original Song, Best Debut, Best PC Only Game.

The first category will be 1-3, the second 4-6 and the 3rd 7-9 and so on.
These are based on my own opinions, having listened to the podcast already.

List items

  • Such a brilliant game I've actually bought it 5 times (twice new, and three times during a sale) Borderlands is a game I will keep on playing if new content comes out.

    My 2009 game of 2010.

  • A game that I keep regularly going to on PC, one of Valve's masterpieces of gaming next to Half Life, and with great innovations such as an AI Director that keeps the game fresh.

  • So much content coming out for this RPG, I had stopped playing it for a bit, then dedicated a week out to it, and came through the other side thinking it was better than Lord Of The Rings. Epic old school storytelling.

  • Well, if you just look at her and make a judgement, then you are a very poor judge of character. One of the quirkiest characters of the year that turns out to be kickass, caring, and sexual all at the same time without breaking a sweat, and she has some of the best one liner's I've ever heard.

My Best New Character of 2010.

  • He's John Wayne as a reformed character, such a gentleman, the best character I have ever seen come out of R* and such a believable character for the setting that Clint Eastwood himself would probably say he's a real cowboy.

  • I thought there was no room for another anti hero in ancient lore, we have the Angry Kratos, but Gabriel is the perfect personification of a misguided but determined soul. I will feel angered by Gabriel's situation as much as I laughed at how violent Kratos is.

  • The track is Boy Meets Girl. Try and listen to this, and not smile at least a little bit on the inside. If you can't, then you're probably the heartless bastard that laughed when Samantha the dog got killed in I Am Legend.

  • I know the game's not out this year, but the title music from the E3 trailer was released for free earlier in the year, and man is it kickass.

  • The track is The End Run; this plays through the final mission cutscene, and it's freaking epic. The sense of triumph is worth it after such an awesome game, and this music reflects it perfectly.

  • This game came out of nowhere, to such up roughly two weeks of my October. I was expecting to play some Enslaved then, but Castlevania is such a rich and vibrant world that I played into the early hours of the morning without knowing it. Here's hoping to more of the same awesomeness, and the epilogue threw me off a bit, but I can't wait to see what they do next.

    My Best Debut of 2010.

  • Move over Devil May Cry, a crazier, more insane and kickass woman is in town, and hopefully she's here to stay. I couldn't imagine playing a Devil May Cry without the dodge button. What an innovation!

  • It has to be said that I do like the odd apocalypse story, the most recent being the STALKER series, and while that is into it's third entry, the best game to come forward and bring that sense into the mainstream is Metro 2033. It's like Fallout went to Russia for a decade, and came back hardened and made itself harder still. But people who give it a try (if they can get used to the shooting) will find an experience like no other.

  • People say PC gaming is dead. They're idiots. While I'm not a Starcraft II or WOW person, anyone with half a brain can see that PC gaming is quietly working in the background to make gaming as a whole far better than its console cousins could be. STALKER is no exception. While it is rough around the edges, the people who play Fallout complaining about lack of guns, give STALKER a try. For those who can breeze through Fallout NV on Hard on Hardcore Mode, give STALKER a try, and see what they do when they are faced with 2 controllers in a tunnel, with a blood red emission happening outside, which fills the vision.

That is why STALKER is my PC game of 2010.

  • Having dipped my toes into the Penumbra series, I can only say good things about the sense of horror it evokes. Amnesia, is one step further in that it lets you make your mind up about how scared you are, and then shocks you by making you hallucinate a lovecraftian monster around the monster. Never been this freaked out since Fatal Frame 2.

  • Yes, I know it's not out yet. But when people talk of their first experiences of Minecraft, it will be Winter 2010. So powerful is this game, it swept over my uni household in 3 days, and even if you're not playing, you will probably sit and watch, or ask questions, or if you're like me, ask them to fight a group of zombies so they die and lose all their stuff. Muhahaha!
