To change your search preferences when you click on find a public match, when you can select all the playlists, you should see "search preferences" in the lower right. Just hit X, change it from normal to best. It says it will take longer to find games, but I haven't had that issue, and it cleared up nearly all the lag issues I have. I do have a 50 meg connection so your mileage may vary.
Actually the last race in the US was not a fuck up . 2005 was the tire fiasco when the Michelins wouldn't last more than a few laps and they withdrew from the race. I was there and saw the "race" in person. They went on to do races the next 2 years at the Speedway with no problems.
But yes I will be watching, and I probably will make the trip to Austin in 13 or 14.
I'd like a better campaign where it isn't basically a fps version of a light gun shooter with you shooting thousands of dudes all on your own. I'd like squad controls, dynamic support like Air Strikes/Drones and less scripted Michael Baysplosions.
That being said, the stuff they've talked about like the branching stories in the campaign sound interesting as well as the Pick 10 system in multi.
I think they have made an honest attempt at changing it up, guess I'll find out for sure on Tuesday.
